Good catch. Even fewer Tacos available with manuals.

My buddy has it on his off road and it sounds fantastic, it is AT though. I have the Borla, which is very similar tone to the trd just a bit louder and I absolutely love it. I got it about a year and a half ago and still love listening to it.

sounds pretty good performs like crap but most don't actually care about that part. it's highly restrictive for what it's worth. but i got along with the sound myself.

I had the Borla on my 15 AT and loved the sound maybe I’ll just go that route with this one.

Added another manual to my fleet.

In comparison to the Taco (3rd gen) the D40 Frontier (2nd gen) has shorter clutch travel, slightly shorter throw with the stick, but a tad more slop. Engagement is fantastic, almost sporty.

    Nice!

My buddy had the nismo frontier, it was a beast! How do you like the 4.0?

Man, you won’t be disappointed with the Borla s type. I love how it gurgles when shifting gears at low rpms.

This one is a Pro4X (2017), the successor to the Nismo. The 4.0 is torquey, I find myself in higher gears around town compared to my Taco (of course, the taco is also lifted and has larger tires lol). So far its been fun, very smooth application of power. Claimed tow rating is 7000lbs, but I don't plan on doing that anytime soon with the Sunday truck/kid hauler

Any chance you could record a sound byte and share it here? I’d love to hear it.

Consider trying the pre-axle dump for nearly free on the stocker. It was just enough extra sound to make me happy along with killing a wasted piece of pipe that I had no use for.

    IMG_20190227_170427.jpg

Do get a nicer mandrel bend though.

Hopefully this works, I guess I never posted the videos in my build thread. Listening to the videos again though, it really doesn't sound that different, which is why I probably never bothered to post it. There is a lower end grumble that you gain I think but probably the cell phone mic just isn't good enough to really pick it up, or maybe it is the built-in monitor speakers that are crappy for playback on my end. Sounds decent IRL while accelerating but isn't too annoying at cruising speed.

I got both the TRD intake and exhaust during the 40% off sale since I had heard it can help with towing and I have a decent sized travel trailer I pull with my Tacoma. Can't say I noticed much difference in power/acceleration either from installing them, but I got the bling now!

I’m super scared of CA smog when it comes to this stuff but if I moved to WA I’d be game.

A bit more sound and no dangly bits when wheeling.

No negatives that I have found other than a slight resonance at 1,500rpm that I can only hear in my garage.

I have no real idea here, but I would thing that anything aft of the cats or muffler, they wouldn't care about it?
