My brother and I have what we call the twin tacos (even though they are 3 years apart..) and he's running duratracs on his. We took a trip down to the Carolinas from New York and hit some real nasty white out blizzard conditions through Pennsylvania. Those tires did great and didn't skip a beat the whole way. Fairly quiet ride, aggressive look, even tread wear (with regular tire rotation of course) and solid all weather and all terrain performance. I'm took a gamble and bought a set of Achilles Desert Hawk XMTs. I have to say I the only, and I mean ONLY complaint I have is the highway road noise, but buying I tread pattern like that, I knew what i was getting in to. All around, these tires have far exceeded my expectations. I have roughly 9,000ish miles on them and the wear is almost non existent. Balancing was easier than expected. Slick roads and wet weather don't present the problems I've had with previous mudders on my taco, as they seem to grip the road all the time, wet, dry, hot cold, doesn't seem to matter. Off road performance is a breeze. Haven't needed my 4 wheel drive much lately because of how well they grip. I haven't had a change in fuel economy as I didn't change the size of the tires I was running, just the tread. All in all, I highly recommend both the aforementioned tires to anyone looking for an aggressive and high performance tire. Snapchat-1282356826.jpg Snapchat-1349626788.jpg

I feel like they might be the safer choice after everything.

There are going to be arguments for 285s and against 285s. Some guys will say you CAN fit them, but it requires some serious trimming inside the fender well and the cab mount in front. Me personally, I have a 3" front and rear and only run 265/75 16s and I have plenty of room for suspension articulation. And they look good with the lift size. Some guys may want bigger tires but they perform great. So I would say try the 265s and see how you make out, especially without a lift.

After numerous hours of research on this page and others, I came to the conclusion that Falken Wildpeak AT3W's were best for me. Wet handling is what matter most for me as well as comfort and looks.

Any recommendations for a tire that is 95% road, 3-4 off-road trips per yer (rock, mud, gravel), 3-4 trips per year towing a 3500lb camper?

Looking for the same. Rains a lot here in N TX so good wet weather characteristics are a must. Price isn't really that much of an issue.

My list of tires mentioned throughout this thread and the number of favorable mentions for each. May not be 100% accurate but should be pretty close:

    Cooper Discoverer S/T MAXX — 8
    BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2— 6
    Nitto Ridge Grappler — 6
    Cooper Discoverer AT3 — 3
    General Grabber AT2 — 2

So, now that the tires are determined.............

What is the best oil to use in my engine and best filter.

I currently use oil from Dollar General and the Orange filter.
