I'm beginning to think this is a Troll thread. "Good on you, use your f*cking truck for what it was built for." No f*cking truck was built for being scratched all to hell!

Goat armor will easily protect your body from scratches.

And some of us like our trucks looking good, even if we take it to the bush.

Truck was built for whatever the owner wants to do with it.

It's the same as giving shit to mall crawlers.

As long as the owner takes care of it mechanically and it presents no danger to others, who gives a fuck how it looks -- even if it doesn't suit your personal preference.

I can't believe people are in uproar because OP went offroad and the truck got scratched.

Yep not sure why previous poster said it’s impossible to keep the sides free of scratches. It’s actually very possible.

Just because some of our trucks are not scratched up, it means we don’t use them as “trucks”? Haha!

Not in an uproar, OP said dealer wouldn't fix his peeling scoop because of the state of the rest of his truck.

Today I learned about Goat armor. I still wouldn't use it, and even if I did I still wouldn't give OP a hard time about scratching their truck, as mentioned above there are way worse ways that people f*ck up Tacomas rather than scratching the paint.

    YMMV, just my opinion.

Well speaking of beating on the truck, dented my door and fender and lost my mirror today. Looks like I'll be filling all my dents with Bondo and raptor lining the entire truck. That should fix all the body damage. Found a mirror for $50 and going to try to swap over all the internals.

That's been an issue long before COVID. There's actually a TSB for it. My truck has some as well.

More than likely the scoop got a rock chip and the paint failed from there.

I probably would not have even bothered with a warranty given the state of the rest of the paint. Just take the scoop off, sand it, and wrap it. Or paint it. whatevs.

:censored::censored:Year 2021………. Guys now think pinstripes on a off road truck is “trashing” a truck. Dear lord , nothing surprises me anymore. I pinstripe the living shyt out of my 19 Pro. That’s why I bought a white truck versus black, just so they’d blend a bit better. My true thoughts would get my comment taken down.

Maybe it's from the hood sucking in massive amounts of air and feeding it directly to the engine...

LOL. The only thing the scoop does that actually amounts to anything other than obstructing my view is ……….. It does let a ton of heat escape the engine bay faster.

Lord help Toyota if some dealer tells me my hood scoop paint that is clearly flaking off has anything to do with some clearcoat scuffing on the sides of my truck.
Their job is to submit to Toyota for possible warranty coverage, while weeding out obvious no’s . Let corporate tell them you wont be covered. Not some turd behind the counter with a God complex.

I can tell you on more than one occasion ‘dealer A’ has told me “no warranty” then when I took it to ‘dealer B,’ I was told “ of course thats warranty, let me get it approved..”

One was for driveline vibes. After an appt and road test , Dealer A told me nope, its your aftermarket off road tires (KO2’s) that are causing the problems, sorry cant help. THEN TRIED TO SELL ME NEW STOCK TIRES . I knew that was horse shit so decided to make an appt with another dealer.

Went to Dealer B who said my ujoints were the cause. Which made total sense. A week later had my appt to have 3 ujoints replaced, all under warranty. Fuck lazy dealerships.

I'll prob make a separate post about this, but just raptor lined my truck. Maybe I'll go in now and see if they say anything about any scratches
