so im not really wanting to be that guy either. but im getting impatient regarding the delay of the release of these V5's....so maybe i am that guy.
anyways, wondering if anyone else has considered making their own DIY sequential switchback drl mirror light?

inspired by this thread: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-dimming-drl-switchback-functionality.552203/ , i found these sequential switchback led strips: https://www.theretrofitsource.com/w...t-switchback-sequential-PIVOTSEQ-B?quantity=1
i have the thought to disassemble my V4's. swap led strips with the new sequential switchback led strips, reseal the lights. wire in and call it a day.

has anyone else thought of this or have completed this? id rather buy the V5's as I dont need another project and happy supporting MESO, but I am that impatient guy....

Won't the sequential strips need additional power for that to work? Also, if you replace the strip directly, wouldn't that only allow it to be powered for short bursts at a time, and not the entire time required for the sequential to light up. (maybe, I honestly don't know).

yes additional power would be needed either via vampire tap, or an add a fuse.

re: short bursts. there's a driver apart of the led strip that i posted that i believe handles the functionality

Man I remember Pre-Covid, Meso was putting out innovation after innovation. Almost had me checking this site on the daily. Today, seems like Meso has moved on to other projects and we don't hear from him anymore.

    I guess V5 won't be coming out.

chip shortage and shipping issues probably hitting his business hard like anyone else who is trying to get stuff made in China.

Hard to make new stuff when you can’t get it made and if you do, it’s hard to get it here.

I'm kinda hoping they end up being a lil more smoked looking so the diodes aren't so visible o_O

I’m here. And trust me.. they will launch, right when you least expect them;).
Ah…Those were the days. A new innovation every other week:D. TBH I’ve taken my foot off the gas a little bit. I’ve got so burnt out and wanted to just coast a little. Still working behind the scenes, but a lot has been going on in life; new baby, lost my 2 full time employees, material shortage(hit and miss), shipping charge increased (from some vendors over seas), etc. my goal is 1 new product a month. But now I have tundra and 4 runner to think about as well. It was a lot easier when it was just TACO only. I’m still hanging in there, just taking it slow and enjoying life lately. But V5’s and the long awaited dual color maps are on their way to me, and should have them 2nd/3rd week in August :D

Some pro advice, kids learn how to use wire cutters before you’re ready for it. My oldest’s best trick was cutting just enough off my template wire to make the 90 wires I cut to match it useless. I docked his college fund in return.

My all time favorite kid focused mod was removing the power jumper in my rear ktjo bowl light T harnesses. That renders the window switches at the doors useless but I still have control from the cockpit. My kids get so pissed off about it, that alone is priceless.

Nice to hear from you @MESO . Sorry to hear about all the issues you’ve been dealing with. I’m sure you know this, but you don’t owe anyone a damn thing! Your products are top notch, and very practical. We’re lucky to have someone who truly wants to improve the Tacoma in such innovative ways! I’m always impressed with the quality products I receive from your company. You take care of yourself and your family first. Everybody needs a break once in a while, even from what they are most passionate about. Hope you haven’t worried yourself too much about everything you mentioned was/is going on. I am still excited about the V5’s and will purchase when available! Hope to see many more amazing products from the MESO camp whenever you all(or just you!) get around to it! Life is far too short to be stressing it away!

    Cheers mate,
    Nate.
