For the longest time you could get a king cab, 6spd manual Pro-4x for $28,800 CAD. Sticker would be $32,000 or so but at the end of summer they would do a clear out event.

They unfortunately don't have a Manual anymore, and I expect it to be priced similar to the Tacoma now.

Will the Frontier sell? Why are people going to buy the new Frontier isnstead of a Tacoma or Ranger.

The Frontier also has the heated steering wheel, and zero gravity seats. Which might be nice to have. I can do with out the heated steering wheel, it's a truck. I prefer the urethane wheel, leather wrap looks good, but that leather deteriorates over time. Zero gravity seats? Midsize trucks are only going to be as comfortable as a midsize truck.

    - imo, Yes, the Frontier will sell, just not at the numbers the Tacoma does.
    - Why buy a Frontier over the Tacoma. Personal choice, better drive train/engine combination. and depends on who is dealing the most Nissan or Toyota.

I for one will test drive the new Frontier.

If the Frontier is heavily discounted that could be motivation. The new Frontier could be worse that the old one. I'd like to see what the lower trim Frontiers look like, the Pro 4X looks over dreesed in plastic.

    $26,000 for a new Frontier 4x4 I'd consider one.

Drive train has been out for a couple of years. No real issues reported.
Yes, the new Frontier "could be" worse. Time will tell. (some here on TW have said the 3G is not as good as the 2G Tacoma).
As far as plastic. All trucks have a bunch of plastic in the interior.

I loved my 06 Tacoma. Bought a 16 Frontier because it reminded a bunch of the 06 Tacoma. All mid size trucks are getting crazy on cost.

The cabin space of the new Frontier should still be roomier than the 3g Tacoma given the cabs dimensions haven't changed on both trucks. With out looking at the numbers, I don't see anything that would convince me to go with the Frontier over the Tacoma or even a Ranger.

After seeing the Frontier roll off the line, in that video, I didn't see anything that made me want to jump up and buy a Frontier. I actually wanted to buy a Tacoma trail edition after seeing that video.

I know it's the way it is, and the manufacturers know their market, but the creature comforts and bed speaker leave me saying. Yeah what am I going to do with that?

Each to their own. Tacoma is a good truck. It has better resale. For that you pay more up front. When I am ready to buy I will give the Frontier and the Tacoma a test drive. Just like I did in 2016. There is not enough differences between the two. For me it will come down to price. (yes, I know Tacoma's have a better resale value. but you pay more up front).

Seems you should buy a Tacoma. I am not here to convince you to not buy a Tacoma.

Maybe, if Toyota ever has a sale.

The new Frontier could be the same or higher up front than a Tacoma though.

Could. We won't know till Nissan releases the prices on their website.

My experience in 2016 was Toyota and GMC/Chevy were not reducing prices. The new models were out and selling. Nissan was bargaining.
I expect Nissan dealers not to negotiate much with the new Frontier. Couple of things working against the buyer. New model, possible low inventory due to chip shortage.

The earliest I will purchase will be the 2023 models.

Right the last Frontier went like 16 or 17 years so they could sell it for less, truly expecting the price of the new one to be right there with a Tacoma. If memory serves me, back in 2005 when both were new models I'm thinking the Frontier was priced about a grand higher than a Tacoma.

I think the tide will turn, with how stupid Tacoma pricing has gotten people might look to the Frontier.

Best in class horsepower, 9 speed transmission that knows how to shift, full boxed frame, four wheel disc brakes etc

Nissan is the poor man’s Toyota. Going to take a lot to change people’s minds. I welcome the competition. It would be good for all of us in the long run.

IMO the new Frontier drivetrain reveals the 3rd gen for what it is, a piece of outdated shit

From the videos I've seen it seems to be a high revving engine as well. As for "outdated," Toyota as a whole is outdated. It's exactly why they have a reputation for reliability.
