So last night when i was leaving work, i got out to the parking lot.......and my truck was at the far end(since we work here and cant take the first parking spots)

so i was about about 60 yards away and i wanted to test how far my remote could unlock/lock my truck, so i tired and i was quite surprised for how far i was and it unlocked,

so it was unlocked, and it took me like 1 min to walk up to my truck, and right when i got to the front on my truck, my lights flashed, kinda like when u unlock/lock ur truck, and i was so confused bcuz my keys where in my hand..

i even look around to make so no one was F'n with me

then i tried to open my door and it was locked....

so are our trucks self unlocking if we unlock but dont open any door for a min????

has this happen to anyone else??

    or im i just trippin??

if you dont open any doors for a minute i think it is, it will self lock itself, however if you open and then close a door it will not self lock

Once you unlock your truck if no one opens a door within 30 seconds it will lock itself automatically. I read it in the manual

Yes. If you do not open a door within 30 seconds of hitting the unlock button the truck will Re-lock itself. I believe this is in case it receives a invalid unlock signal from someone elses remote.(could be wrong:notsure:) Either way it is VERY annoying as I find myself constantly having to hit the button again.

Something else your Taco will do (at least a 2010 model) is you can lock your doors with the remote and the inside lock switch WILL NOT unlock the door. This is to deter theft, ya know the guys with a metal rod or coat hanger from unlocking it. I thought it was cool. They are still gonna steal your stuff though if they want it bad enough.

i like it because if i am out of range to lock the doors i am confident that my truck will be locked when i come back. I'll have friends that ask "did you lock your truck?" and every single time i will turn around and try to lock it, but if i don't see the lights blink twice i turn back around and say "ehh It'll lock itself".
But one thing i have noticed if i pull it into my garage and shut all the doors and hang my keys on a hook near my truck it won't lock itself..

You boys are partly right. Not sure about the signal from another remote thing.

It's theft prevention. In case you happen to hit your unlock button while putting your keys in your poket (for example) and not realizing you did so as you walked away from it. Your truck wouldn't stay unlocked for a long period of time.

ok, yea i know about that, but i thought he said it locks on its own, like if u park and walk away and ur remote wont reach, then it will eventually lock, but i dont think that happens

bcuz there has been times where i park at home and dont lock it and walk out later and its still unlocked..

i think its only when u lock it, then u unlock, but dont open any doors, then it will lock by it self

Your truck locks itself once your keys are out of range?

If it is locked, and you unlock it, but don't open the doors. It will re-lock itself after 30 seconds.
