I'm a newbie when it comes to the subject of tires so please bear with the very basic questions. I have 21 TRD Sport that has 265/65R17 Toyos as OEM. I don't off road, occasionally tow around 2,700 lbs, and am happy with the OEM wheels. At some point I want to upgrade to the Michelin Defender LTX M/S, but thought it would look better to fill out the wheel wells a bit more as well as get a little more cushion. My thought was to go with a 265/70R17 to get 1/2 inch more height and fill things out a bit more. I'm thinking the increase in aspect ratio to the next size should be safe, not produce any rubbing with my OEM mud flaps, look better, and not produce a huge difference in the speedometer. Am I correct in my thinking or am I being too conservative? Thanks! :)

I’ll tell you what though, I have Yokohama geolandar m/t at 265/75/16 and can confidently say, that’s the biggest on stock.

OK so 265/70R17 should be safe. Hopefully will look and ride better.

I'm trying to decide between 265/75 and 265/70 for my tire change. Do you have a pic you can share with your stock setup and the 265/75s?

Or does anyone else have pics with stock suspension, 16 inch wheels, on the 75s?
I know the 265/70 will have roughly the same diameter of the stock 245/75s that came on mine but with about an extra inch of width. I'm leaning towards that since the transmission is such a dog to begin with.

The tires I have are E rated in gargantuan on the stock suspension. No rub, but wouldn’t go bigger.

I'm a coward. I'll stick with the 265/70 17. I don't want to spend $800+ mount and balance and find out I have a rub. Plus its a reasonable speedometer error I can live with.

Not sure what equates to the 17” sport. But if you had 16”, my recommendation is sound.
