Not taco related but finally got around to doing some vehicle work...and attempted to tackle window tinting...70% front and 10% back...if anyone is looking to get some tinting done do not come to me for it haha.

I like some of those bumpers. That one i think would look better if the sides were solid not just the bars.

That's not a bad price at all! Where is it coming from? Are they going to nail you on duty/brokerage fees? The Pelfreybilt stuff I bought cost me twice as much after customs got ahold of me

That's why I ordered this one as it is made in and being shipped out of Ontario! Can't wait to get it and get it installed, now I have to decide on a winch. Oh and it's cheap because they are no longer going to be making them.

I don't disagree, it's def not my favorite look but the price makes me like the styling better. Now I just have to order the Runnin4Tacos Bumper Caps - Toyota Tacoma (2016-2021) – Runnin 4 Tacos so I don't have to cut my front end and maybe I will sell it and make some money? Who knows, not really sure what the stock front ends are worth but I know when I smashed it and had to pay to rebuild the front end it was like 4 grand so we'll see, might also keep it to sell the truck in stock config later on maybe, not 100% sure yet. Either way, I'm excited to get going on more mods on the truck, I have like 10 mods sitting here waiting to install, plus the Rock sliders are coming sometime, just need to get skids now and I won't have to worry as much when offroading :)

I'm on vacation all next week, if anyone wants to do some off-roading let me know, I'm down for pretty much anything! Also planning a trip to Brier Island, always meant to go and have never gone so why not next week?

Hey folks, anyone happen to have a cap that would fit a third gen (2019) double cab that they are wanting to get rid of?

I think if you open the alerts, but don't click on the notification, it will stop giving you alerts on that thread until you re-visit it.

That has been my experience anyways

That's a pretty decent price but I know nothing about these winches, are they any good? do they tend to survive for very long? I feel like my winch is going to get wet/muddy but not be used a whole lot so I need one that can stand up to my abuse and I'm just not sure if cheaping out on one is going to end up costing me in the long run or not. I'll be super pissed if I haven't used the thing in a long time but then when I actually need it, it doesn't work! I really want a Warn but the price is outrageous so I've been looking into the Smittybuilt but they are also a lot more expensive then this one... not to mention I need to get the cutout things ordered so I don't have to cut my actual bumper and those things are expensive and only appear to be available in the states so duty/taxes are going to suck, plus I don't know if getting them in black would look ok or not but the $200 to get them painted makes me consider it anyway... I have so many mods waiting to be installed it's painful to be honest! Hoping I can motivate myself to do installs next week!

4wd 24/7 on youtube ( auzzie show, formerly called 4wd Action ) runs them now, and they run them very often / hard. No issues there. Mind you they ARE Sponsered by Runva, but based on what I seen before, they don't hold punches on stuff, and if it broke, they would tell you ( mostly because it would make a more interesting story about how they got un-stuck when the winch broke )

    https://www.youtube.com/user/4wdaction

I also liked that Costco sold it. They have a pretty good policy on taking stuff back when its broke.

the gear box has the ability to be clocked, I had to clock mine to fit in the bumper. the solenoid box is able to be re-located, but I did not find it particularly easy to do so. for me, and how I chose to do things, it required a bunch of custom cut and crimped wires ( thanks @Canoehead for the loan of the tool, and the wire ) but completely do-able.

can't remember if I shared the pictures of my install or not.

take my words with a grain of salt, I tend to overthink things, and no doubt make it more difficult for me in the end.

I've been watching 4WD24/7 for a few years now, love their channel a lot! Some day I'd love to get down there and run some of the trails they do! Didn't realize (well ok I guess I did but didn't really register in my brain) that they were running Runva winches, I guess now I know what I'm gonna buy! And I love that it is synthetic, I am trying to keep weight down if at all possible! Thanks for the info Danny! I'll prob order this in a few weeks after I'm done vacation... and then it's just the 'bumper caps' that I need to decide if $200 USD is worth paying to get them in body colour or if I just want to try em in black...

I bought some bumper caps for my build I'm working on. I will post some photos after they come back from the body shop.

Been chasing a P0011, P0016 error code on the truck,
had a very mean lope at idle, and made too much noise at shutdown ( a bit of a chatter ) I stopped driving it immediately.

I tried to cycle the original solenoid on the bench, nada, zip, zilch.

out with the old and in with the new
    AM-JKLWEqzfHGEoDcn0AaZO2q9OUTIezvcYDahwy_dd2d5953a5ba3ea778803c0407657dab5789c95b.jpg

idle's smooth now, no noise on shutdown, but the P0011 is still there. Advanced timing on the cam gear.
not really sure where to go next, I was thinking of testing the cam sensor, crank sensor, inspecting the OCV filter for blockage.

I already did an oil change when I parked it to see if that could be the issue ( internet suggested low or dirty oil ) so I don't think its either one of those. The OCV on the right is the original. while a bit golden, did not look all sludgy or dirty, I looked into the hole where the OCV goes while I had it out, looked golden but not sludgy in there too so I dont think I have sludge buildup ( but only taking off the valve cover would tell me that )

last option would be to inspect the timing chain for excessive wear, see if the timing marks are off, but I'm trying to avoid that if possible.

always something these days. I'll be glad when these issues are behind me :)
