Issue with cutting frame for 6” lift

Can you get it it to a body and frame shop? They will do it or not. But you could hire out one of the frame guys on the side to do it probably if a shop wont do it.

 

I say, save some money, make your own lift.

Guys.....your are debating a non-issue in regards to the OP's question.

Any time you begin cutting on a frame, you compromise the integrity of the frame. Sure, you can bolt/weld on other bits and pieces. But the frame is designed to be stiff enough to handle the loads and compliant enough for a decent ride. Frames are capable of flexing and twisting plus have a direct impact on the handling. If you go back in automotive history, frames were made solid and extremely stiff. That design method was outdated decades ago.

Yes, you can make the frame stronger and stiffer, although there will be compromises in other aspects of the frame.

I'm taking my dropkit lift off. Just bought this truck with the intention of going back to stock. I'll buy your cutout crossmember piece of ya if you go forward.

It’s funny how many comments there are about off road performance but he said this thing will have 0 hours off-road. I do agree that if you ever changed your mind and wanted to sell the group that would be interested in owning a 6 inch lifted Tacoma is going to be very small. Also doing this can be considered frame damage which will lower the value even more. Just a couple things to consider.

Lower the value? We used to sell trucks with 6-8 inch bds lifts for way more than stock trucks all the time.

That’s awesome. Also frame damage = less money. You see a lot of dudes on here looking for that set up? The group looking for something like that is smaller just how it is.

 

I Purchased a 2019 Tacoma that had the Rough Country 6 inch lift and had the frame cut obviously. I’m thinking of going to a long travel suspension and I’m wondering how will I rectify the incomplete frame now? Does anyone have any experience with this, or know what the best course of action would be?
