RIPP also is coming out with a kit that uses a new cooler for the trans and re-pipes the old one for steering. I was thinking about it before but saw that is about to come out. As long as you don't have an extra heat exchanger for a S/C easy setup. The setup here is nice since it would give ample room for the S/C heat exchanger.

I've done many coolers in my career. Used to buy large AC condensers and braze ends on them and install them in small busses. Might have easily done 200 of them and it for sure increased tranny life. Worked on a large fleet. This one was easy for me and kinda fun to see just how clean it could be done. I was told that with the connects pointed down - it reduces potential air pockets. But I have done them in just about every direction with never an issue. Now my "tech" experience could use some work. I'm more of a hands on guy with brakes and suspension and frame replacement or repairs. Sure did my fair share of leaf spring rebuilds and ball joints !!

Pretty sure it would work on 3rd gens too. Maybe some mounting adjustment. It wouldn’t be Shocked if a third gen version was coming

Nice I can see that that was a lot of the reasoning behind the directional ones. Nice to see more options

Idk why, but retro fit was never in my mind with the oem. Last year my buddy replaced the whole AC system in his 02 Accord. Snagged the evaporator and used it for my tig cooler. Way overkill, but works well! Needless to say, the mind is schemin

Glad this was easy for the OP. For me, you might as well ask me to install a Flux Capacitor in my truck. Both have about the same chance of success with me doing the installation. Zero :sawzall:

Well I say it was easy because there was so much room in there. Normally with the older automatic transmissions - I would have gone much bigger or even doubled them - but there is so much controversy about keeping a hotter temp. range in the newer stuff, that I did not want to overkill this one. My 56 Chevy wagon has two of them stacked and has been working great for many years with the two speed power glide. Regards Scott

Hi That is actually my "out" side going back to the trans. On this cooler - it does not matter which port is in or out, as it is "by-Directional". It can be mounted in any direction that best suits your needs - downward, upward, or sideways.

I chose the Derale Series 9000 Part #13624, If using another type cooler best to fine read the instructions to see if this still applies. Most will. Regards Scott

So since the radiator input (hot & high) is also on the passenger's side and flows horizontally to the Driver's side and exit (cold & low) It would seem thermally beneficial if you inverted the ports of the transmission oil cooler, maybe.:pccoffee:
