has anyone tried this pedal commander throttle response? I saw a ton of positive videos as I have a 4 cylinder but in between i read some negatives bad negatives like one guy loosing control of his vehicle due to this, according to him. I have a 21 Tacoma sr5 and it’s got a lag so I was looking to add this but have any of y’all used this with 3rd gen and had any problems? Thanks

It truly does nothing that you cannot do with your foot now. Floor it. It will go.

I guess I'll be that guy and go against the grain. Seems like mostly negative comments from people. I've had mine for over a year now. Never have had any problems with it whatsoever.

I happen to have 800lbs extra weight in front & rear bumpers, full steel skid package + sliders, winch, diamondback etc. Between regearing to 4.88s and adding a pedal commander, turned it into a completely different truck. The nice thing is that you don't have to floor it, you get a much peppier response without having to hammer on the pedal. Sort of makes their case about better gas mileage if you drive aggressively. Yes I know that you can attain the same thing as a tune, but seems like that will be out the window for us poor slobs here in Kalifornia with their new aftermarket tune law.

I had a buddy that thought they were garbage so I had him drive my truck with it turned off, then put it on Sport +2 mode. He admitted he could really feel the difference.

If you are planning to tune it one day, then I say pass. Would be redundant & a waste of money

I was going to go that route. Then decided to get a tune. Really love it. It’s like having ECT on. From stop way better response. When loaded still works good. For a mid size truck these things are plenty quick. Or I should say fast enough for this 50 yr old. Anyways enjoy whatever you do. These are great trucks

i had it on my 2017 MT after i got the truck new, this was before any of the ECU tunes came to market. the factory tune drove so poorly that i almost sold the truck. the factory tunes are better now, but back then it was hard to even drive the MTs on the factory tune, so i appreciate the Pedal Commander a lot, because it kept me from selling the truck... it helped me through serious driveability issues.

now that actual ECU tunes are available, the difference is night & day with the tunes being the way no doubt about it. if it's driveability, or performance, or whatever, the tunes are better across the board hands down.

I had one on my sport from the first owner of the truck. Works as advertised and has 15+ settings so it can be adjusted from feeling like stock to being able to ‘chirp’ your tires from a complete stop. I ended up selling it and getting a tune but the guy I sold it to loves it. If you don’t plan on getting a tune it’s not too expensive. It installs in minutes and if you don’t like it you can sell it and break even if you buy a used one.

Sprint Booster will accept returns within thirty days, no questions asked. I have one on a 2nd gen and would buy it again. I have no plans to buy a tune.

Both the Pedal Commander and the ORIGINAL of these boosters, the Sprint Throttle Booster, do the same thing, with the difference being that the Sprint is about $100 cheaper. I bought and installed a Sprint Throttle Booster on my 2019 TRD Sport, and have not regretted it a bit. It does exactly what it is supposed to do, and that is simply to increase the RESPONSE of the THROTTLE when the accelerator pedal is depressed. Don't believe what I am saying here; Look at this video link I will provide below, as it gives probably the absolute BEST explanation of what throttle boosters do. Here is it:

I have the sprint booster installed on my 2020 sport and it works great .I never had any problems with the truck at highway speeds in regards to the gear hunting and tune issues other tacoma owners experience ,I just found the truck to be a little lazy when taking off and the sprint booster has fixed that issue for me , satisfied with the purchase .

Sprint booster (USA company)is recommended. It has a tiny easily hidden controller or once you figure out where you like the setting disconnect it and stow in the glove box.
Pedal commander (Turkish knockoff of a sprint booster as I understand it) has a larger control panel and I,m not sure if it can be removed.

Banks pedal Monster works great feels like a truck should! Takes a bit of trial to get your preference, l like throttle 4 and position 7 in both city mode around town and same throttle 4 and position 7 sport mode for more enthusiastic driving!! Both settings rids you of the infamous spongey pedal!!!!
Track mode is hard on rear diff and tires going around corners on streets and tears up gravel driveways if not carefull

Yes, when I first got my Sprint Throttle Booster, I knew that I didn't want it on the Race Mode, but I did want to notice the reason why I bought it in the first place! I have found that for me, the most comfortable setting is "Green 9". I can't handle anything in Red or race mode! Even in Green 9, there are times when I put my foot on the accelerator pedal, and it will squeal the tires, something I do not want to do, as I am not a teenager any more! And while I still don't understand why they replaced a regular good ole tried and true throttle cable with a "Drive by wire" system. That is what causes the problem of the slight delay in response. But Sprint Throttle Booster more than makes up the difference, I can attest to that!

We offer both the Pedal Commander and Banks Pedal Monster. Both have received very good feedback from our customers. Pedal Commander was our big seller for these devices but the popularity is slowly trending toward the Banks as it has the built in safety which is nice. These devices truly are one of those things that can't be explained and needs to be experienced. You can not mimic what these do with your right foot. Message me if you would like a quote on either one.

@leeroy300 and @SRBenjamin hit the nail on the head.

Aside from the Banks PedalMonster, there's no other throttle sensitivity controller has any safety features of any kind, at least any that will actually protect your vehicle from going into limp mode in the event of a failure. PC has none of the features that Banks offers:

    ▪️ActiveSafety failsafe circuitry
    ▪️Gear Sense
    ▪️Transmission select
▪️Reverse Safety returns pedal to stock in reverse gear
▪️Adjustable Low-Speed Trim controls how fast sensitivity is added at slow speeds
▪️Module powered by +12v via OBD, not low-overhead pedal circuit like Pedal Commander and others.
