Finally got around to getting on the truck again after it being down for so long. Feels good.. but still having the "surging" issue under hard pulls I've been experiencing off and on for years. I plan to do some datalogging this weekend so hopefully it'll show up.

You know this has been going on for some time Tor. I've changed, fixed, tested everything I could think of to cause it. No codes. No other symptoms.

Nah, these cats are just the suck is all. Typical mileage for them to go with the supercharger installed is 130-150K miles on the clock. Use premium only, and make sure your oil changes are up to date, no longer than 5000 miles, do your spark plugs even 20-30K if you are not tuned and you'll be good to go.

Spark plug defoulers work in place of the URD sims. ;)

When exactly in the RPM range is this surge occurring? I need more info to attempt to help you.

It's sporadic.. and I don't even have enough info myself. Lol. Hence the data logging. Just when I'm WOT. Doesn't matter if it's off the line or I roll into. Occasionally it'll start surging/bucking/hesitating.. I let off the accelerator.. ease back into it.. if it's still there I let off again/more.. and ease into it again.

Really sucks when you're pulling on someone and it starts acting up.. and you gotta let off a bit then get back into it.. and they pass you.. lol

I did all the right things with mine and the stock ones lasted 60K and were replaced under warranty. I'm on my third set now. And the de-foulers do not work as well as the simulators, but its certainly worth a try. At least they didn't work for me. Unfortunately there are no approved replacements in certain states, so you have purchase factory parts that have an integrated manifold. Has anyone priced out new full replacements? Its enough to make you cry.

Could this related to the somewhat recently discovered hesitation causes resulting form dirty VVTI filter screens/ sensors? Maybe you swapped the screens already...

I've had this issue for a long time now. I have not done anything about it because I was never sure if it was a screen issue or a solenoid issue or even if it was a CMP issue. Based on the symptoms and how it is a sometimes and not an all the time thing I am more inclined to want to replace the VVT solenoids on my own truck first before any of the other items I mentioned. Especially since I know that these solenoids suck across the Toyota lineup in general having replaced more than enough of them after 80K+ miles.

They definitely worked for my setup. They don't work as well, I agree, but if you are just starting to experience failure then they can and more than likely will resolve your issue.

Where in Colorado are you located, @TearingOut55 ?

Could it be a fuel pressure issue?

Maybe. I thought maybe injectors or something. I've changed the fuel filter. I just figured I'd see something if that were the case. Hoping the Data Logging will show something.

    Yes

So had some time to do some digging today - after a compression and leak down test I’ve concluded cylinder #5 has low compression due to a leaking exhaust valve. Looks like the supercharger and head is going to have to come off for a refresh…:annoyed:

    Pics are cyl 1, 3 & 5

NO!! That's two of us this month dealing with cylinder heads. I'm dealing with a dropped intake valve seat cylinder 6. Good luck my friend!

Oh, I got lucky. Just got mine earlier this year. Anyone know if I can just install the factory midpipes/cats and pass an emissions test? I'll be damned if I'm swapping out the long tube headers...those were a pia to install

I highly doubt you'll pass with only the rear two cats installed. If you do, it will be at a shady shop that doesn't care. You will fail visual every day of the week.
