I think what is so funny is that you can think you are a bad ass. You may be able to lift 400lbs above your head, run 30 miles through the woods like it's nothin, ice climb 400ft up the side of a mountain, deadlift twice your body weight, but none of that shit matters when you go to hang out with kids (I can only do 2/4 of those things).

Took my niece and nephew out yesterday to a ninja gym and then we went bowling. It was a rude awakening. My body is at least 10 years older than I am because of my surgeries. My knee was not doing great after an hour of gym rock crawling and running up warped walls. My shoulder doesn't do well trying to swing from ropes.

That moment when you realize you aren't as cool as you think you are, is rough.

Although I did go for an 8 mile run this AM and I couldn't get either one of those cross country runners to do it with me means we are 1-1 ;).

@weldertaco and @ThunderCookies you guys are in for some serious training buddies here soon.

 I’m hoping that being a blue collar worker will keep me mobile a tad bit longer than average. Or it could backfire and make everything hurt faster. Who knows

I honestly feel like desk jobs destroy your body.

I have been dealing with piriformis syndrome in my left hip for the last 3 years. It gets inflamed and causes sciatica. I am also nearly positive I have a labral tear in that hip as well so the fucked up muscle function in that hip causes the bones to rub that tear. That issue was specifically cased by poor seating posture and has been a bitch to address over the years while working desk jobs.

It's been improving by getting off my ass and standing 95% of the day and it keeps getting better.

When people say sitting is the new smoking, I really think that's accurate. Just stay smart and lift things correctly and maintain a healthy body weight and exercise routine on the side and I think you'll notice its a benefit :).

Only 2 pages of this thread for the whole month of July? What happened to everyone?

I’ll come back in another year to hear the answer.

Folks are busy I guess... I’m sure Flex Friday’s are happening somewhere. I’m back to trying to get my lifting needs satisfied in the garage due to the new nasty virus numbers going up in my area.

@SLO/TACO is a busy family guy as well but, still seems to remain in shape. :D

Under contract with our house and the new owners want to buy the gym equipment. Added everything up retail price minus shipping/tax and we’ll see what they say. Gunna suck replacing it all but it beats moving it.

I would seriously ask for retail plus 25% its not like you can run out and replace all that in 30 days these days.

Btw you did a shit ton of awesome work on that house. Sad to see all that go?

I’m toying with the idea of selling mine. I am over being a homeowener right now lol

Good point re moving it all, though..selling could be a good excuse for bigger and better!!
While nowhere near yours, my home gym is in a state of suspended animation at the present time. Not sure when or if that will change unfortunately.

    Uh oh..dare I ask.

I can lift on the clock at work now so that will hold me over till I replace it all. Yea the house was a labor of love for sure but it was always a stepping stone so we could build a new house. Making some serious money on this place so it would be dumb not to sell. Gunna be at the parents for a bit before work gets sorted out and start looking for land.

A small ranch like ours just went up for sale a few weeks ago. I'm creeping on it to see what the closing price is. If you slightly price adjust the asking price for our square footage and add that we have a better water front property, the math is showing we'd sell $80k higher on the house than we bought it for, which is a 50% increase in price from the original price. It's super tempting to take the $240k minus realtor fees and cut and run. That number would look so nice added to my brokerage account .
But of course caveat is, will I get back into a home for that price a few years in the future?

Good luck with a new home build. My advice would be to build the home yourself (sub contract everything) and not go with a major home builder if you can.

Yup we bought for 180k, put 55k into it. Selling for 440k, so we’re making a 205k profit. Wife’s friend is waving her realtor commission.

Buddy from school is a 7-8 man operation builder so I’m going to use him for the shell and finish the inside myself. Should be fun.
