Why do they let people build shit in the middle of a flood plain?

after last nights storm all the posts this morning are pictures of washed away fences and mud covered roads.





and all my grandpas cut hay is pretty much shit haha

I had the exhaust sitting in the garage for months but my roommate gave me such a hard time about wanting to change things up I didn't install it til last week. In the end I regret letting him make me feel so bad about it

Damn that sucks. Wonder how many people are out there camping right now getting washed away.

I guess everywhere you look, cities and towns are built where natural disasters can occur. But when the disasters are guaranteed on a yearly basis (ie hurricanes) it makes less sense to me. Earthquakes are shitty but usually spread decades or more apart.

Then again, devastating wildfires are becoming a predictable yearly occurrence for the West, so

Probably a few camps for sure. Atleast it wasn’t quite a weekend or a holiday

we pretty much camped in the middle of a wash when we were there.

 

My first time smelling California wildfire smoke was last week.
Stank made it all the way to East coast.

 

Thats funny considering I live here and haven't seen or smelled any smoke yet haha

Most of the big fires so far have been on the eastern border
