    Good evening everybody.

    As of 1630 this afternoon it’s officially beard growing time for me. So this is what being retired feels like.

    I stopped by the Major Crimes squad room this afternoon to say goodbye. They made a big production about me abandoning them and so on. They then said they wanted to give me a little parting gift and proceeded to give me cheap gold watch. We all got a good laugh out of that, after we explained it to the 2 youngest members. Then they gave me a nice bottle of bourbon. I thanked them all and started to make my exit. My old partner and best friend (who retired a couple of years ago) comes out of one of the back rooms and says they all pitched in and have one more thing for me. He then hands me a custom made, hand tooled, holster, gun belt and cartridge slide. A “BBQ Rig” is what us gun nuts call them. I got to admit I got a little teary eyed at this. That’s a hell of a lot better retirement gift than a plaque or the gold watch.
