Precisely! If you’re like most, it won’t matter as both are great vehicles. We just like to bust each other’s balls. Choose the one you like better. We can’t do that for you. If you’re gonna push it a bit harder off-road...well, go with the one designed for that. If you like scoops, painted fender flares, & gravel roads...choose the Sport. In the end, you’ll have a capable vehicle either way. It’s your money. Welcome aboard.

You will make it 99% of the places off road make it to. Your just gonna have to back up and choose different lanes sometimes because without a rear locker you will spin out on some ledges.

OMG and here I am for months trying to find a reasonably-priced set of non-rivet black fender flares to break up the monochromatic blah...can't believe how expensive a few pieces of curved plastic are.

If you off road a lot, like pushing the hard line, no easy side path for you? Get the OR. If the view is nice and you're fine with just getting there, get the Sport.

I have an OR and have to drive over the curb to my driveway, several times daily...thank God for OR's...not sure a Sport would make it...

I've only taken my '18 Sport (totally stock) for what I'd consider serious 'off-road' once and it performed above my expectations.
The reason I chose the sport is it's versatility, as it's rides/drives/handles on the road much like a luxury PU or SUV, however is fully capable of handling any dire off-road situation anyone is likely going to find themselves in.

I have an OR and the only thing that I can't live without is the locker. And, I have only needed the locker when I choose the hard line.

A sport is still a badass 4×4, and lockers can be added down the road if you want to get into more technical trails.

TRD Sport 4x4, access cab, manual transmission. The hood scoop sold off, it gets in the way of your sight line. Bone stock, water hole was a foot deep. That’s the worst I have been in. Did I say manual transmission.90A8630A-8D55-4FA5-A559-354D0185D6E1.jpg

I think of it as... if you off road for the fun of it, then OR or Pro is the best choice. If you want off road ability to get you to places where you will hunt, fish, camp or do other outdoor activities, then a Sport is a good choice. It's the means, not the end. I had a 4x2 Sport for a few years and it took it everywhere I needed to go with ease. Of course I live in Texas so snow is not a concern. I've got a OR 4x4 now however.

So I've been reading these posts that indicate the Sport is not a 4x4 and scratching my head. My 2019 Sport is a 4x4 so where are these Sports that are only 2WD?

if your comparing against a Sport, Limited or SR models, you couldn't be more wrong. You get stuck in the sand at the beach, mud or deep snow, good luck getting out.

You guys are kidding yourself if you think your Spirt will get you out of places other than a dirt road. Go make a Youtube video and prove me otherwise.

Ok, same tires and they're on a pretty level playing field for what someone else said '98% of owners 95% of the time'. Let's face it, someone asking the queation isn't going to be doing anything crazy.

    Really?

Aside from the locker, what does the off-road have that's such a huge advantage? I off-road pretty often, and I rarely need the locker. MTS and Crawl are very cool, but so far it's only the locker that has actually gotten me out of a jam.

Now, if you're hard core rock crawling, you'll probably need the locker a lot more. But, for mild to moderate stuff, a 4wd sport should be fine.
