5/8 hex bar turned to .410 diameter inch and a eighth long, then relieved the hole for 1/4-20 clearance. If you go back and look at picture, you can see how much easier it will be if the need arises to remove the frame.
Yeah....I had a bad experience with that squincher stuff....

I believe they're a smaller grouse. My binoculars were elsewhere so I didn't get a good look before they ran off again.

The popscicles are good, but the zero sugar stuff is crap. The 20oz drinks are better that Gatorade, imo.

If there was something besides grass in the picture to provide scale, it would be easier.

    I'm thinking Grey Partridge.
Also known as Hungarian Partridge or "Huns".
Introduced from Europe over a century ago.
Common on the Northern Plains, and prized as a game bird.
    Quail sized.

Mind you, hen pheasants can look similar at a distance.
But hen pheasants are bigger and have rather longer tail feathers.

    I don't think they're Sharptail Grouse.
Again, Grouse are bigger than Huns.
None of the birds in your pictures have an erect crest, that I can tell.

I got invited once to go shooting at a game farm.
We shot Chukars and Huns (both are Eurasian partridges and related).

    I'm kinda envious.
Invite me out and we'll go choot some. :)

    P.S.

Dove season starts here in a month and I have my senior license.
I get to hunt free for the rest of my life.

    Fun fact:
More shotshells are expended each year during dove season than for any other purpose.
    They're a difficult target.
For the average duffer who only picks up a shotgun once a year, if he hits one, it's an accident.
