Good morning everyone. In a (not) surprising turn of events we had rain yesterday afternoon. The first storm was preceeded by a lightening strike somewhere very close to the house - followed by the sound of a tree falling. I'll do some scouting today to see if it was on our property.

    Be safe!

Ribs look excellent! We had the same dinner last night. Did the ribs on the Weber EX6. This was my first time trimming a whole rack to a Babyback rack of ribs. Came out really will. Lots of pork left over for other dinners.

Today is a busy one Clean the pond filters, second coat of sealant on the driveway and lunch with my cousin's husband. Have to pick up wife at the airport at midnight.

Ha! We did indeed. Been doing our corn whole in the microwave, and I will say that is very good and convenient. Cleans up real nice. If you had some sausage and salads, we had the whole menu!

:rain::pccoffee: Good Morning to all, Porch! Dripping some rain at the moment, and we're supposed to have it most of the day. Less chance the rest of the week, which is better than the recent "rain through Wednesday" forecast. Those folks are having to earn their money this summer, because it's usually (choose one) upper 90's or low 100's, with less than 10% from June to September!

I know I can run a sweeper, and run to the store today, but past that, we'll just have to see! Carol wore Rex out in the pool yesterday - he's hiding under my legs at the pool table! He's got to lose 3 pounds she says, and one went yesterday!

Garden is taking a beating this year.
A full month of solid rain didn't help. Lost about a third of my tomato plants and 90% of my lettuce. Add some birds and chipmunks to the mix as well.
What's left is finally producing. :cookiemonster:

Any of you guys use fish tape? Are you supposed to take the wire loop thingy off the end when fishing the tape through?? I got the tape only so far, and then it got stuck. By then it was time to walk the pups, so didn't have time to take that off and try again :notsure: I have a 100 ft tape, going through about 70 feet of pipe - 90* bend fitting on each end, 4 - 45* fittings spaced out, 3/4" pvc pipe with these elbows CARLON 2-in 90 Schedule 40 Schedule 40 PVC Two Hole Pipe Elbow Conduit Fittings in the Conduit Fittings department at Lowes.com

Well, the link didn't work, but you use the loop at the end to loop the wire through and fasten when you fish the wire back. You definitely could use some pulling lube with that distance. And 2 90*'s won't help! If you can remove/not install at least one.....
    But the lube will help.
Put your wire through the loop, making its own loop. Wrap the wire around itself a few times, and tape securely - as skinny as you can. Put more lube on the loop end when you insert it back. Use plenty.

thanks for the tip on the lube - have never heard of it before. I could remove one end, but was afraid what the glue to hold the pvc together would do to the wire. https://www.lowes.com/pd/CANTEX-2-in-Combination-Elbow-Conduit-Fitting/1000321657 I know about the little loop on the fish tape, but there is a small cable Just got the fish tape and no directions :anonymous: I had left the cable thing on, but will try next time with it off.

PVC glue won't bother a thing once you let it dry, and the lube won't either. Never seen that thing on the tape part of the wire before. What's the brand and model - maybe I can find out something.
My fish are both 30 years old, so..... might be something "modern".

I know the pvc glue won't bother anything when it's dry, but if I have to cut an end off, then I'll have to glue it back together. I want it water tight

This one shows the wire thingy

OK, fiberglass! The loop on my metal tapes is the end itself formed. Look at the little 5 step box in the pix to see how you use your "loop". Kind of fancy, but you feed it through the glass end, then twist and capture your wire in end, and cover it.

Personally, lube will do wonders, and I would just cut inside the 90 ends somewhere a little inside the end of the run, and glue a nice, straight sleeve. Then glue the cut off ends with the 90's back on after pulling the wire though them separately.

I see what you are saying now about the little fish tie part. YES, take it OFF, feed the fiberglass tape all the way through, THEN, fasten the fish end on and secure the wire. Fill the end your going to pull with lube, and keep applying generously whenever you feel the tension warrants it.
