Our pleasure to help. Yes, I was curious as to why there was a discrepancy between our site and Falkens as our information for tire specs comes directly from the manufacturers. I have passed this information along to our web team so we can get our site updated.

I’m really surprised that the 265/75/16 E load only weighs that much. The SL weighs about 44. Are you guys sure you weighed an E? Thanks.

Yeah the sl load is 44. So I’m surprised lol. Maybe they weighted the p rated one and not the load e? Weird

We had the warehouse double check and 44.9 is correct for that tire. For the sake of curiosity we had them weigh the 265/75R16 SL load. Oddly enough, this tire weighs 45.2lbs.

I just did a forum search while gathering tire weight information and came across this thread...I'm now more confused than I was before.

Wouldn't that make these tires, in E, far and away the lightest E load tire?

I've had the SLs for a couple years. Lots of off-road but no "4 wheeling". 35lbs all around. Good tires and good service from Discount Tires.

Thank you for your business and the support!

There could be a few reasons the SL is a little heavier than the E rated. Tires are a product of compromise, no tire can score 5 out of 5 in every performance attribute, meaning there will always be a give and a take. When the tire was being designed its possible that Falken had a goal of making the tire perform a certain way in a certain condition, and in order for that to happen it may have needed to be reinforced with more belts or a heavier carcass, in doing so this increased the weight.

    PM on the way.

@Discount Tire I'm looking to get 5 tires of a similar size 275/70r17 (sorry slightly different size than OP, but couldn’t find a better generic thread on Wildpeaks than this). My question: I’m mounting these on Stealth Custom Series Gen5s, I’ve seen posts that talk about wheel rim damage issues when mounting new tires to SCS rims at some Discount shops, and because of this I’ve heard some (all?) Discounts now refuse to work with these rims (partly because replacement is near impossible with how infrequently SCS stock is made available for sale). Are you able to speak to any quality control updates to prevent wheel damage when mounting? Also, can you confirm if you’re able to mount on these rims?

I appreciate your help, overall seems like a lot of positive feedback on your company, just some one off concerns I’d like to resolve prior to bringing new, very hard to get rims in to be mounted. Thank you in advance, and hopefully will be purchasing 5 new wildpeaks from you soon!

I think that would be a question for some of your local wheel and tire shops. You can ask if any of them are doing any type of protection on the breaker arm to not damage the wheel. I would find a reliable one and explain to them your concerns that way they know to take extra precautions. If DT is not doing them anymore I’m sure other shops are aware of it as well. From what I’ve read it’s not just DT that has had problems with those wheels and any tire being mounted on them. I would be extra cautious as well. I wouldn’t want to spend that kind of money and just take them anywhere.

Happy with the tires. Look amazing IMO, really transformed the truck from Terminex to Terminator... Quiet on road. Track well. Decent on the loose rock and mud offroad I do. No obvious difference in fuel economy or power (4 cyl).

    Thank you for your inquiry.

From a company wide standpoint we are certainly happy to mount tires on your SCS wheels.

As far as quality control, we take every precaution we can to avoid damage to a customers property. Our techs undergo many hours of training as well our equipment is kept up to date and maintained on a regular basis. With that said unfortunately damage can occur, however should that happen we take pride in our ability to do the right thing and take care of our customers.

    PM on the way.

I've had them on for about two weeks and just did a 1700 mile road trip. They ride pretty close to stock but I do notice they the ride is slightly tighter in a good way. I also like that they make the truck sit up a bit higher. I can't complain so far and feel that they are a major upgrade from the stock tires.

Hey @Discount Tire. Could you shoot me over a quote on a set of 265/75/16 SL?

Really like how these turned out! They ride smooth and if anyone is curious I bought 5 and the spare fits just fine! Thank you DCT!

Did Falken discontinue the 265 75 16 XL (6ply) tires?

I was debating between those and the stock 265 70 16 SL (4ply) Falken WP3s. Falken might have made the decision easy if they stoped making the XL tires in a size I want.
