I installed that in my truck too. Took less than a second. Cost nothing.

I just bought a rolling code homelink, used off ebay... $18..
It comes with homelink box, cover plate, and 2 wires...
I'm just gonna pull down the overhead console and mount the box either above the empty center part of the console, or just mount it in the headliner.
    Powered only with key on...

I put a few resistors in line so the blue led was 1/2 as bright, better at night, can't remember what size.

Yeah this is a lot brighter than expected.lol

Luckily I dont drive the truck that much at night. But it is distracting.

Thanks for the heads up about the resistors, I prefer the brightness of yours much better. I’ll definitely have to look into adding them.

It was standard in a Sport in 2013. For the cash they charge you for a 3rd gen you should have that as a standard option.
If you live in a scetchy neighborhood just don't activate it if you park outside.

I decided to upgrade my garage door the other day. I had a plan to install an automatic gate opener in the car. I didn't know how to do it because I needed to redo the electronics in the garage completely. We recently moved here and had a major renovation done here. So it took the help of 3 people. A friend advised me to get help from guys that do Garage Door Replacement. They replaced the door, and now I can drive in and open it from the car. I don't know how I used to live without this feature.

If you park your truck outside your garage you'd not want to leave your opener in your truck..

This isn't advised due to theft. If thieves break into your car at night, it gives them a lot more loot options. The Homelink doesn't transmit when the car is off.

Sorry this is not true, I always use my homelink when the truck is off to open the garage. I do it on my 2021 now and was the same with 2012.

true, but wait 2-3 minutes after your ICU go to sleep mode. You shouldn't be able to a activate your homelink without the ignition on.

I have the Homelink Mirror in my 21 wired so it does not operate if the vehicle is off.

Mine is the factory one in the rearview mirror. Always have work with the ignition off on both of my trucks.

I park my Tacoma in the garage at night thus my garage door opener.
Besides, if my garage door opens I can hear it in the house so I will awaiting any unwanted/uninvited guests that try to sneak in through the garage.
