Oh there will be some mods all right
The tour guide made no mention of it so I'm not sure if we did or not.

The lead spring pin on the drivers side is scraped up and jagged metal on a bottom part.

Clean the hole and the pin on both sides then reassemble tightening both sides a little at a time using a tape measure to keep them equal until tight. (the pin & hole are not a tight fit hence measuring)

Headed there Thursday! It's my home away from home! We're probably going to check out Copper Harbor again as well.

Didn't think to clean them out but did do the tightening you suggested. I think everything worked. Husbo said everything looked straight this morning. Who knows what its like after the ORV park today.

Newaygo State Park was a good spot.
Looking forward to finding more spots around this state! Open to recommendations!

I like the Petoskey state park if you need power and hot showers.

Rustic camping around the Tippy dam recreation area is very nice for primitive amenities. There are 10 or so rustic camping areas in 20 mile area.

Mouth of the two hearted river campground. Remote and on the big lake. Really nice.

I second that. Loomis Landing is rustic camping and they rent an assortment of boats; beautiful scenery. There is also a map of rustic camping on the Tippy backwaters some accessible only by boat. Twin Oaks Campground is near the area and you can always rent a shower. Twin Oaks rents cabins and elec. camping spots, just not scenic.

Has anyone checked out an app called The Dyrt? I just got it recently and it looks pretty sweet. It shows campgrounds and stuff for free. You can upgrade and get the maps offline and add BLM, NFS, and NPS lands to the map for dispersed camping. The only downside is it doesn't show state land, which you can also dispersed camp on.

@usmc2msu No. Forest roads on national forests do not require ORV tags. ORV "trails" require tags, but "roads" do not. yep confusing...but if you get a road use map from any forest service ranger station, you can see what's a trail and what's a road. theyre color coded and thats the easiest way to see. They will try to get you to use an app, but say you have no cell service and they will give you a paper map. you can also look at any ranger stations website and look for "motor vehicle use map" MVUM and it will show all roads and ORV trails. you can DL the app and it will DL onto your phone so you wont need cell service to use it.
