Right now I have a char griller side by side half propane half charcoal. I use the charcoal barrel grill as an 'offset' smoker. Does the trick for what I need. I was thinking about the side firebox but, meh. I have only ever had ONE incident where I couldn't fit everything I intended to.

Wood pellet burner like a traeger. Best of both worlds.

That's what I thought and that's why I had a Traeger for the last 4 years. It just doesn't give much flavor to the food. I tried every different kind of pellets I could get my hands on and nothing tasted like it had more than a mild suggestion that maybe it had seen smoke on the horizon while the food was still alive.

I know plenty who haven't been a huge fan but it's usually just because they don't like smoking/the time to get there etc.

Someone who knows what they're getting in to, I haven't seen bad reviews really.

You can get spoiled by charcoal and wood, that's for sure. I love the convenience of my pellet pooper, but my WSM gives the best flavor.

I hate my pellet pooper. No I don't. Strong smoke, nope. I like the taste of meat with a light smoke.

Now that I have a Traeger that isn't broken, I love it. I don't want to have to tend coals or wood. I just want to turn the thing on, throw on some meat and let it do its thing.

I'm also keeping my propane grill because it sears a lot better than the Traeger does.

    It shows $55 for me.

If it matters, I have a few year old 6 probe Inkbird that works pretty well.

New to the thread looking for some advice. I am in the market for a new traeger and I have had the junior for about 3 years. I am wondering if the price jump from a pro level to an ironwood seems worth it to the folks on here. Any experience with both or great/terrible experiences with either?

do you have to deal with corrosion? Do you cook on a commercial scale?

for me - I don’t cook on a commercial scale and whatever I buy is going to rust in a number of year (New England and near the coast). Why pay the extra for stuff I won’t ever get the benefit of having?
