This truck is the same basic mistake that people make with their homes as well. They feel if they make $20k worth of improvements it increases the market value $20k. Doesn't work that way. In some cases depending on what they do it can add nothing or even reduce market value. Whoever this is is trying to get out every cent they put into the truck and feels he has a shot in this market. Doesn't hurt to list it and see what happens I guess.

If anyone wants to send me $80k for my truck they can have it, comes with a free set of Treps with 50% tread left. I'll even provide a full tank of gas.

Great point. It's a catch 22 because you rarely ever get your money back from the mods. If you spend $60k-$80k all in and it gets totalled you're either fighting with your insurance company or spending two weeks attempting to pull your mods off.

... and yet a feeling of satisfaction if it does sell. C'mon it's not common for me to be driving a potentially $80k truck. ;) (i'd never pay that btw)

I would love to hear the rationale for this. At least he followed the bro algorithm for building a Tacoma. That's worth something, right?

Truck in OP is borderline Carolina Squat, bad enough to eyeball.

If that's worth $80k, is my sport what... $65k? I might let her go for that price.

NO LOWBALLERS I KNOW WHAT I GOT

Edit: "never offroaded" on a truck that's basically setup for expedition... typical mall crawler (said the guy whos never offroaded...)

Upon further review I'm convinced there's only three reasons why he's selling.

He's happily married and wants to stay that way.

    He's getting a divorce.

He's single and the current gf likes the new Supra Turbo, Hennessey and White Claw and $20k in his pocket.

A court forced sale makes sense with that price actually. There's always a story!

Seems a lot of these builds are people assuming giant loads of debt. Maybe the spending caught up?

Why else bolt so much expensive nonsense onto a truck customizing it just to turn around the sell the thing?

My theory is a variation on yours.....he does in fact want to stay happily married and his wife is pissed. He really doesn't want to sell, so he lists it at a ridiculous price so either one of two things will happen: 1) As he expects, it doesn't sell, but he can tell his wife that he tried to please her and sell the truck but no one bought it, or 2) Someone actually pays $81k for the truck in which case his wife is happy and he has a shit ton of $$ to get another one.

There's plenty of people with more money than brains and the money often makes up for it. My friend Mike is a great example, he leased a Tesla for three years at $1400/month. Also spent $90k restoring a Dodge Powerwagon after watching a youtube video. There's way more, let's just say the powerwagon was his best idea.

"Never off roaded" is it wrong that I off roaded my Pro as soon as I passed engine break in? Idk, maybe it's just me, but shouldn't you actually use the truck for what it is made for?
