I had that setup on my last 3rd Gen. Quite nice. You can definitely take washboards (aka mall pot holes) a lot faster and the added beef allows for them to withstand that abuse longer at a single time. Great choice. Oh, I went with JBA UCA's and they were great as well.

I agree. Spending the extra coin on long travel suspension should only be considered if you need the extra articulation. You also have to resign yourself to the fact that this phase of the sport will likely beat the shit out of the body and the rest of the undercarriage components of your truck so be prepared for that.

Long travel is cool AF on the trail if you NEED & USE it, is all I am saying. I personally would love to have a truck as capable as a tank. I just can't see me needing or using it enough to justify the cost.

I've also got JBA's and ride rites on stock leaves on the rear. The 5160's made such a difference I considered stopping there and returning or reselling everything else. They really calmed the rear end down, which was my single biggest complaint. 6112's are on 600lb springs on positions 3/4 (1"). The difference in diameter is shocking (pun intended).

I was actually between this setup and accutune'd fox 2.5's. I decided the value per $ ratio dropped off at anything more high end then the 6112's, for my intended use.

Yea, like I said, great choice. I have the Fox 2.5's now and I can tell you there is not much difference.

I watched the key points of the video and this demonstrates perfectly what they wanted to show. I've got to say though, I am not surprised.

I hope they do a follow up after cycling each truck in these conditions a couple hundred times. Especially after adding a considerable amount of weight to the axles. I'd also like to see the difference of each truck on older fire roads and forest trails to see what they think about comfort.

I was surprised the first time I took mine (stock suspension) off road after adding 33's. It did exceptionally well.

Were the Icons leaking by the end of the video?

    4 run, 2 don't
    Lol

The difference between lower end and higher end would be in a situation where articulation is constant, especially at speed.

Those Bilsteins might feel ok for a bit, but continue off the beaten path, and that's when those Bilsteins will start to get bumpy and not dampen as well.

A higher quality shock will dissipate heat much better, as well as having better valving and oil, that will continue to dampen much better over the long run.

But again, most don't even venture off road much to be able to tell the difference; this is where stock suspension will suffice for them.

I do hear very good things about them. But, I read about a lot of leaking issues as well. I guess for my money I'd rather not buy something with a reputation like that. There's plenty of other high end shocks to choose from.

Donut's editing can be a bit much at times, but they're got some great features like HiLow, Money Pit, and Bumper2Bumper.
