It's easy. Follow the flash instructions.

After that is complete, you are free to do the LV Resets, Customizations, or anything else. Do not insert or skip steps.

    Hey
I recently went to use tech stream and it said a new version must be downloaded. When I do this I’m prompted for user Id and password. Have you seen this?
    TIA

    It's alright.

Even the newest versions of TS will do this from the start. Kind of a stupid thing, but hey, it's free.

This might seem pretty random but I haven’t found anyone else having this issue

I have a brand new laptop—windows 10. Installed VF tuner from OV directly and when I try to launch the software literally nothing happens—whether I run as an administrator or not

    any ideas?

Seems like every 6 months I have to devote half a day to getting back up to speed on this. Threads like this are very helpful so thanks for setting up.

    Three questions:
    1. Did the 2.0 final with gear lock and map switching for ATs ever get released?

    2. I upgraded VFTuner to 1.3.1.3. Is there any reason I should not use this version (i.e. is it beta or something)? Seems like this thread assumes folks are still on 1.2.9.x?

    3. I purchased a tune pack back in Aug 2020 and received the tune files via an aws link in Sept 2020. Do I need to go back to Rafael to get another link for the updated 2.0 tunes with gear lock (if it is out)? When I click on the link now it just downloads the same p5f files released in June 2020.

    thanks!

Sounds like av problem. Typically best to disable or set exceptions

    1) nope
    2) 1.3.x is good to go. I just haven’t updated the thread. There’s been like 4 releases in the last couple weeks
    3) everything has moved to vfc file types. If you haven’t updated to vF tuner, you’ll want to do that as you’ll need if when the new files come out.

any required additional steps to move from 1.2.8 to 1.3.... ? like registering VIN or will software do that? have been on .vft but not moved to .vfc. TIA. BTW I use to use .vft before moving to Maggy SC (they use VF software) - only need to flash Maggy Tunes when they release - last for me was .vft but with recent move to .vfc I will need to move to new 1.3.... format.

    just download and install.

There’s a new flasher with 1.3 and you’ll need to register your VIN

you can flash vft or vfc files with the new version.

you will need internet connectivity to complete the “prepare ecu” step when flashing tunes. It checks to see if your vin has been registered and then lets you flash tunes.

I already have a Tactrix cable. You used to be able to get the software license only for $199. I don't see it on the VF Tuner website anymore, only the software/cable bundle and the Pro Tuner upgrade. Does Mat not offer the license only anymore?

I believe you can still get it but need to message zendesk. I think the link went away from too many people not paying attention to what they are buying and purchasing the wrong one.

Good news, I nearly purchased it about a month ago before going on a 2 week road trip. Got lazy and never got around to it. After the Tacoma STRUGGLED in Colorado for 2 weeks, came back looking to get tuned...no more license option! I'll shoot them a message on zendesk. Thanks @Shellshock.

    Pls Help
Question: how do you flash a tune now?
I followed Shellshocks instructions prepare ecu and to register my vin#.
After that I’m not sure what are the next steps to flash the tune into the ecu.

Thanks in advance I haven't use my vftuner for a while. It's kinda confusing now

You should update to 04b14 - everything you need is in the ecu update thread by @tonered

Send a message to zen desk and you can trade in your dongle for a free upgrade to vF tuner and get the 04b14 tunes

Stock files are bundled with the vF install

if you are getting a 21, that won’t be 04b14 btw
