Yep, i just peaked in to see if they had the UU kits back in stock yet out of curiosity. I still have sme 2nd gen Pmags on back order from when I ordered my kit i noticed they went up from $10 to $14 also. I guess inflation is hitting all around now. I may still order the trigger who knows it may go up again

I just checked my email. Feb 2019 the assembled UUK was $902 for me. The stripped lower was $239 shipped and took about 3 months to arrive. Back then you could only get their stripped lowers if you already bought a UUK.

I was just suprised. I got an 18" UU kit about 2 months ago for $895. It suprised me it went up that much. In fairness it does now have their brake listed as coming with it where that was a $100 option when i ordered. Triggers have been $87 for quite a while and they went up. I do understand materias and shipping has gone up a bit. The kit I ordered was unassembled also

Yeah raw materials and manufacturing is so cray right now. But thats the price for quality, and definitely want to support our companies here in the USA.

    Yeah.
OK, so now I get it. Finally got my lower put together with the MBT-2S in it. What a difference from a standard trigger, I had no idea. Glad I got in before the price hike, but even with the price hike I would likely put this on any new build.

Not sure you’re gonna want to run that optic on the hand guard like that. Might lose zero easier

agreed, move it to your receiver. The handguard can shift and rotate. Also, don't bridge the mount on both the handguard and receiver for the same reason. Put it completely on the upper receiver.

That would defeat the purpose of the whole setup then because i wanted something i could still shoot close range with irons. Id only use laser at 70 yards plus. Im more of a try it and see what happens type of guy. Thanks for the advice though.

You can shift everything back a little bit starting with the rear sight, keep everything on there and lessen the likelihood that the handguard flexes or shifts causing a loss of zero on the front optic.

If the current setup works, great...but there are options if it doesn't

What's the difference in the iron sights staying fixed and the red dot getting knocked out?

He means moving your rear iron back to the last slot on the receiver. Ideally, I believe you want your irons farthest apart from each other anyways. After that you can move the magnifier back which will free up space to move the red dot sight back also. (Im assuming this is what you meant by laser).
Having your red dot on your rail like that will increase the chance of it not holding zero and if that's the case, why even have it at all. Just run irons on it and call it a day.

I know what he meant, i was saying the front iron sight never gets off zero so what would change if i used my red dot on the front as well? The only reason i have the red dot is so i can use the magnifier with it. I shot last week and zero in the irons at 50 and was dead on. Then shot at 100 and had some hits but wanted some way to add some magnification without adding a lpvo because i want to shoot with irons still, just have the option to shoot from further away.

Nothing is stopping the front iron from also being out of zero if the handguard shifts or moves while firing

But since both are on the handguard...if it does shift...you'll be SOL without either one to use

At least if you put the dot on the receiver you'll have 1 that would stay zeroed

And it all may be a moot point if the handguard is tight and doesn't shift...and if it doesnt...great...there's a lot of pros for having the dot further out

Your front sight is accurate b/c it is aligned with the rear. They work together to make one sight picture. So if it was off, it gets corrected when aligned with the rear to work. A red dot does not work the same way. If it's mounted and zeroed, then shifts, it's point of aim will shift also. The point of a red dot is to be able to quickly put the dot on target and aim accurately, so it should probably be your primary aiming tool. The irons would be back up if it failed. Which is why they are referred to as BUIS alot. (back up iron sights). If they are your primary aiming tool, then adding a red dot and magnifier is just more weight. If you want to use the red dot and magnifier to be able to shoot further out, then that's fine but then having them on the rifle for that it would make most sense to also use it as you primary aiming tool and keep your irons as back up.

But hey, its your gun. you do you and what feels fines for you. No harm in your though process, but it could be optimized imho.

Yea red dot is not gonna be my main sight. My rifle is only used for fun at the range right now so no worries there. Weights not a huge issue. I just prefer the cleanness of the irons at closer ranges. The magnifier and red dot act as a sort of lpvo that i can use if i want to at longer ranges. The red dot are absolute cowitness with the irons so should be on point which i can confirm zero easy? Anyways i will report back after this weekend and let yall know how it shot.

But, why to people use magnifiers and red dots vs just a scope?

Is it because you can remove the magnifier and have your close quarters?
