This afternoon the plumber called and said we are good to go with running the line how I wanted to and that he'd be able to get to it Thursday or Friday. Good news!

Then later in the afternoon I went up into the attic to trace out some networking cables - turns out they were just cut and dead ended in the attic without being connected to one another. Why bother putting in the wiring and the jacks in every room if they aren't connected to anything?!?

But that's not the point. While I was up there I saw that the main gas line runs through the attic to the other side of the house. Looks like he'll be able to drop in through the ceiling and / or wall into the laundry room. That job should be faster, easier, cleaner, and hopefully cheaper. It'll look way better when it's done, too. I'm going to call him back tomorrow and let him know what I found. Hopefully this way will work even better. Double good news!

ashame you aren’t closer ive been doing plumbing and heating work for 25 years with my dad I’d come and run it, gas pipe isn’t hard but it does take some planning so you don’t get stuck with unions all over, especially in your case with adding a new line.

Thanks for thinking of me! If you're ever in the Houston area drop a line and we'll grab some barbecue!

Any chance you followed the main over to the laundry room wall that the dryer is up against? Maybe you get really lucky and there's already a drop going down the laundry room wall. It't not unheard of for contractors to stub out both gas and electric in that location. Probably not that lucky but it's easy enough to check.

I didn't but only because there's quite a bit of blown-in insulation covering it up once it leaves the garage. You make a good point, though, so I'm going to go back up there in the morning and look at that specifically. Maybe we'll get triple good news!

Blown insulation you say? That shit needs to be made illegal. I don't think I posted this one when I did the kitchen remodel photo spread. My attic has R30 with about 16" of blown over that. This is what it looks like when you pull the lid. lol

Oh, you don't know me well then. Wait till you get to correct to and too. Then there's always their, they're ad there. I got grammar problems. The only reason I just spelled grammar correctly is because the spell check let me know it didn't end in er. lol

Oh hell no! Sure hope you did something special for her! The last house we built I paid my nephew to feed the hopper so I didn’t have to. I had done my fair share and was over it! I also like all of the interior walls insulated along with the floor joists between the main floor and finished basement. If I wanted all of that done, hubbs made me do it. I’m not a fan of insulating anything.

I helped her bag most of it. I just happened to have my phone in my pocket as she was getting the small stuff that was left. As far as doing something special. She got a new kitchen out of it. lol

Lol…. A kitchen isn’t that big of a deal to me. I don’t do much cooking. Apparently it is needed for resale :notsure::D

Thank you. All I did was the layout and install. All aesthetic things where picked by my wife. She's about 1000X better then me at that.

Theres plenty of single losers like myself who only care about having a sink and microwave.

Lived in my place for a month so far. Used the oven 3 times I think.
