I put small bits of rice down mine. My old roommates would put WHOLE LIMES. Why. Throw them in the trash can.

 yeah my wife used to do that too. To be fair, I always thought coffee grounds were OK but apparently they are most definitely not.

Ah, well that's a neat data bullet point. The 5vz coasts at high advance.

I dunno if rpms do much to effect that, but they were fairly high at that point

Tonight I learned: a '98 Tacoma and '98 4Runner use different connectors for the front turn signals. Same contacts but in different housings. The housings are just similar enough that they can be forced together.

The front bumper also almost-but-not-quite bolts up, but I expected that.

In 99 didn't the 4Runner go to that flat plate design? I have a custom plate bumper off an 01 and I really wish it came off a 96-98 so I could mount it without having to fab brackets. I looked for ages for a stock bumper off an earlier 3rd gen 4Runner and deeply regret throwing the one away off my 96. This wooden plank is getting old.

Question for you guys. I took the stock front shocks off my 4wd and put them on my 2wd a while ago. The front end is pretty lifted now because of that. Can I just swap the coils out to make it sit at a regular height?

Any idea what spring rate the coils would be for a 2wd and a 4wd 1st gen? Thanks

    Everything but the driveshaft. B03A - 410
Made it home at 3:30 AM this morning from Ouray Co in 17 hours flat. The trip included five fuel stops/breaks along the way.

Soaked up the highway like a 1967 Buick Riviera -- including gas mileage.

Is the 2wd a PreRunner or 5 lug?

Have to be prerunner, the springs are totally different than a 5lug so you couldn't just swap front shocks.

'99 was the year of the "fat lip" facelift, so that's probably also when the mounts changed. '98 has a two-bolt mount parallel to the frame rails with an L-shaped (sorta) bracket to the frame. The bracket is very similar to that on the '98 Tacoma (maybe all first-gen Tacomas? I've only worked on the '98), but the bolt spacing is different.
