No you use the unlock signal to trigger the relay which is a time delay relay to trigger the entry lights. So you’ll still have factory keyless just extra light that won’t turn on unless the keyless is used

Or double key which then fires the unlock firing the dome?

Sounds like fun stuff. Must remember to circle back to this once I'm caught up (as if that could happen.)

The dome is already triggered when the fob is sending unlock signal. You’d piggy back off that signal

No worries. I grenaded my rear diff this weekend anyways. So it’s chilling in the garage waiting for the diff to get fixed. I can’t wait to test your harness:devil:

@Puppypunter informs me that I'm a bonehead and screwed up on the deutsch flange lead length for @Afilao so I may have to redo that part. Rats.

Yeah, bought back my ‘02 RC a week ago from the friend I sold it to 11 years ago. Mostly because @Empty_Lord made me do it? Lol. Actually I spent several years deciding on that specific truck as the ultimate truck for me, back when I was a single guy with a dog. It’s really quite similar to a 3rd gen in size and while fuel economy is terrible, for occasional use hauling and towing and for loaning out to friends it is superb.

It does need some work though and I’d like to focus on getting some of that work done promptly. Water pump, tie rods and valve gasket covers along with cleaning up the interior and replacing some parts on the shell.

OK, where in the world is Dave on custom harness stuff?

Ignoring all the "done" stuff for now, here is the list of work I've agreed to do.

    1. Way at the top is the double harness for @Zumozuzu7 who has waited eons. I owe you and I know it. I'm also simultaneously working the relay shortage problem _and_ I received incoming 12 gauge wire resupply today. Not 100% sure I get back into it tonight as I'm single dad for 2 more days but it's there in my mind, brewing away.
    2. H4 harness for @Shadowhunter which is going to be my warmup for
    3. H4 Tundra harnesses x 2 for me and @Empty_Lord (I should start my hunt for caddy horns now as I don't have any yet).
I think I'm otherwise not committed to anyone else for anything else right at this moment. I would really like to keep my plate as clear as possible for the rest of summer and fall in hopes of making some decent progress on the Tundra and Tacoma. The Tundra needs all sorts of love and the Tacoma has some pending work too. If I commit to doing something for you via DM, it'll pop up on my work list in the future.

Well, actually, @Zumozuzu7 I think I have finished most of the crimping for your harness.

I need to source relays. And I think there is a mounting bracket for the fuses which I also need to source. Then it’s just the pigtail to your scoop light off the 3 pin weatherpack.

@Puppypunter see anything I could do differently? I didn’t like my initial single fuse so I went with 3, a pair of 30’s for the lights and a 1 amp for relay coil power. For symmetry I fed from 3x12 gauge into a single 8 gauge ring terminal at about 14”. Had to use some of the synthetic lube I bought a ways back to get 3x12 through the PVC. I guess I could have set up for a pull vs pushing but hopefully there is adequate length in all directions.

Any questions? I have no idea how to mount 4 relays, I’m thinking some sort of aluminum bar?

The two circuits should be 100% symmetrical in all aspects, the only differences are in trigger wire (orange vs pink) and the output pigtails (pictured is for ditch lights with short and long feeds, not pictured is the scoop light which should just be a single. The symmetry gives some clean redundancy and allows an easy switch swap or output swap for any reason.

Are they on/off relays? or change over types? What's the amps for the attached lights?

Yeah, I really wanted to do a single 24 pin GEP. That enclosure is clean but I needed 4 relays rather than 3. It would have worked in the GEP with two SPDT and two SPST plus 2 fuses and do a tiny 22 gauge jumper off each main fuse for coil power. That was my hope and dream but the 24 pin GEP remains unobtainium.

Form factor wise, it’s definitely less than ideal to have to mount 5 different things. I’m assuming @Zumozuzu7 is capable of dealing with that headache for plug and play wiring.
