Lots of dust and custom dents, Check Build
Correct. All the same for the back portion.

It's the front portion that changes depending on engine/trans.

Hopefully I don't have too bad of vibrations mixing my shortened front section of the DS with the rear section from another truck :fingerscrossed:

    Per new alignment shop:

Alignments in spec, changed nothing, drive and see what it does, maybe it was the tires.

If they start to wear funny, come back and we’ll mess with the toe.

The tires I put on the front could by chance be the same tires I had on the front of the 99, which were wearing bad.

So I put a line of spray paint across both tires as a make shift chalk test

Been on here for awhile and I’ve owned a 2nd and 3rd Gen. I sold the 3rd Gen a month ago and pick up a 2001 Regular Cab last week. I was introduced to Toyota’s with a 1st Gen 4Runner and hilux. Since then I’ve always wanted a clean one (few are far between here in the Northeast). I’m thrilled because the truck is from out west. You never see 20 year old trucks like this in the Northeast. This week I plan on some front end work to get it up to snuff. It also needs a fluid cleanse. The truck will be kept out of the salt.

On a side note; it’s nice read the minimal whining here on the 1st Gen side.

I keep dreading when the day comes that my starter fails with my headers,
Did you have to remove the header to get the starter out to replace it?

I’m still on my original starter so I know that day is coming,
I have the Dough Thorley headers.

My new project that arrived yesterday is the haltech 2000 Stand alone ECU for the supercharger, plug and play

Do you have current hp and tq numbers? Just curious how much you will gain from a real tune.

I'm extremely interested if prices will go back down when materials go back down, something tells me no.

I'll add that Scarab washer to my list of things I do not NEED but definitely now WANT.

At first I thought i was going to have to, but loosening the crossover pipe gave me enough wiggle room (literally) to access the top starter bolt. I didn't have to completely remove any of the crossover bolts either, just backed them off a bit. I was able to put a socket on all 4 of the crossover bots as well by using a medium length extension and a universal joint; that was nice to be able to do. I had OBX headers on my last engine and it was impossible to get to some of those crossover bolts with the engine in, and even a PITA with the engine out.

I agree, I don't think prices will go back down. The demand is there, I believe there's only one other company making 1st gen racks (UpTop), and they are always improving on the versatility of their racks; innovation is valuable.

Just a note on the Scarab washer bottle... if you've done the deckplate mod, the added thickness of the deckplate makes lining up the airbox mounting points difficult (the deckplate pushes on the hardware used to mount the washer bottle to the bracket). I think this could be overcome by using different hardware that doesn't have a tall head height to mount the washer bottle to the Scarab bracket. It is super nice to have just a small little bottle instead of a that 55 gallon drum tucked into the fender.

I mean my bottle has been long gone, but it's one of these that the lid doesn't always close that well on, and the bottles very thin so if the ziptie that holds the motor on is a little off it will leak.

For $5 for a two pack at walmart 5 years ago, it's definitely served its purpose, but I like a cleaner version.

Its about having a consistent correct AFR in boost, better timing number, no open loop or closed loop to deal with,
no MAF used anymore, the power curve should come on righ away instead of at 3000 rpms. The OEM ECU is very conservative
Yes I have before numbets but that was done when it was 50-60 degrees outside so I will have to wait till fall (it's 90-100 degrees now)
to do the comparison after I get it installed and tuned

While I get the disdain for the price, there is something to be said about operating costs (website, shipping, employees, hardware on hand, plasma table and electronics, r & d) that I don't think a lot of people realize when they shit talk pricing on stuff. Having amatuer fabricating a ton of stuff at this point, NOTHING is 5 mins of work. To produce a bracket similar to that you need to source stainless, cut out the center hole, drill 4 holes, bend it and bolt it up after measuring it a hundred times for your bottle and mounting points. I'd say it's a solid 2-3 hours of fab for a remotely nice looking product. Based on how much I make an hour and what I feel my time is worth, $65 is more than reasonable.

Granted I solved the same problem in less than an hour with $5 worth of parts, but it's nowhere near as stable or visually appealing. I guess it was closer to $5.50 but thats factoring in the fact that I already owned a drill and multiple hole saws.
