That's good because I heard wait time is a few months for "Appliances". Made me delay my kitchen re-do until next year

    oof, a few months sucks

my buddy waited like 10 months for a custom door that ended up being the wrong size. I think he reframed the opening instead of waiting for a new one

They a couple days ago they also said they were gonna close the southpark section 285 for bridge repairs which would be a massive shitshow. But they cancelled that idea today for "extended" I-70 closures.

Good thing most of us have Tacomas that can get us around on gravel/dirt roads… except for the mods. They don't have Tacomas.

Bingo, now lets find a Colorado cross country route around the canyon for the next 3 years that it will be closed.

What a wreck. Most probably never related the effect of the fires to this. Could be decades before this is no longer a pending issue there. Totally sucks. Another man made fuck up of significant magnitude.

Problem is I-80 is closed for half of the year, every year. It's just due to cold not mud.

I remember when everyone was celebrating that Hanging Lake was spared. I told them.. just wait until the mudslides and sediment run off destroys the fragile ecosystem.

there is another way around that mudslide mess, but it won't be publicized as it is a narrow dirt road and a semi can make it, but not pass another one. It's not quite an hour longer trip.
Several years ago a semi crashed in the canyon and was carrying hazardous material, closed the interstate down in both directions. This was before I owned the Tacoma, was in the trusty Scout, coming back from a week in Moab with my doggo, Oreo. This was before cell phones had gps and that sort of thing, was actually using the paper version of gps, I think it was called a map, quite antiquated these days. I had been hearing about the closure on the FM radio as well as the trucker chatter on the CB
But yep, just outside of Glenwood Springs, and before the Hanging Lake exit, there is a paved road that is quite smooth and follows a river for several miles, but it's not the Colorado, just a tributary. A small town along the way allowed me to fill the Scout with gas and pick up provisions of donuts and chocolate milk.
Oreo and I headed out. At the edge of town, the pavement abruptly ended, the road was still nice and wide, and smooth for a dirt road. Continued to follow the river for a bit, then started to climb off on it's own. I noticed a growing line of traffic behind me, I just happened to be in the lead, and was actually quite a ways ahead of the line, not holding it up. Several truckers were in that line too.
Anyway, it got a bit curvy and narrow, but was never a shelf road or anything. Wide enough for single file truckers.
As I crested the top of whatever pass it was, coming up the other side was a convoy mix of semi's and passenger traffic. I got on the cb and informed them that they would have to take turns at the top. I was pretty stoked to be in the lead and not have to mess around with all that.
at the bottom of the pass the road ended up in a plains type area with a criss cross layout of roads. The map was actually useless in that it didn't show how to get back on the interstate, you could see it way off in the distance though.
Anyway, Oreo and I made it thru. And so did the rest that followed me. I never bothered to remember the route, but there is another way that completely bypasses the Glenwood Canyon.

Good story, I mapped that route with today’s legal roads through the forest service land.
