Shocked they dealt away Flower as well. Not many popular moves being made right now. It's the first time since Hasek was traded to Detroit that the current Venza trophy winner was traded away. Now I hear Fleury is contemplating retirement because of it.

 

His family doesn't want to move. They have a house in Vegas and Pittsburgh. Honestly he's probably got 50 million in the bank and he has the same amount of cup rings as Patrick Roy. He was benched for a couple of years, effectively, because of the Murray situation in Pittsburgh so he has no chance of catching Roy or Brodeur on any records that matter. Hanging things up right now would still get him into the HHOF without the hassle of moving his family again.

I bet he'd feel differently if Vegas had of talked to him first. It sounds like Chicago was also under the impression that the Flower knew he would be moved, which wasn't the case.

 

BTW how does this effect the opinion of Vegas in the market. There's already a couple of teams that players don't want to go to because they're known for not treating their players well. Supposedly Hamilton was willing to do a home town discount in Carolina but the way things shook down in his and others negotiations made him walk without any deal on the table.

 

It will be interesting to see if Fleury plays. When does training camp start, the 2nd or 3rd week of September?

 

Yeah, for sure. Plus, while Chicago wasn't on his 10 team "no trade" list, he also expressed that he didn't want to play for anyone but Vegas. What floors me even more is that he's the most popular player and arguably the backbone of the team and they dealt him away. That's a move I'd expect from the Detroit Lions, not VGK.

I believe it's already been re-approved if not then it's submitted and will be approved soon they just had to move $250,000 from one year to the next

Still not a reassuring thing when a GM does that. To me it means their internal cap manager isn't good, and that's not a good thing. I mean Boston lost out on like 5 million in space a few years ago because of an internal goof and Calgary almost couldn't ice a team one night due to injury of low salary players in 2018. You don't want to end up in those situations.

 

Yea it's disappointing to say the least. I loved Francis as a player, I'm not sold on him as a GM. Not a big fan of the coach hire or some of the expansion draft selections. Time will tell I guess.

I would think the Sharks hold out for a bit longer. They can just put Kane on waivers and send him to the minors, unless he has a NMC. Tell him not to report to the farm team and stay home until his shits settled. If it turns out he bet on his own team they’ll have grounds to void his contract with no cap penalty.

Edit: Looks like he only has a NTC, not a NMC. The Sharks should bury him there for the short term over use a buy out.

Um, check my order of comments. The comment about sexual assault had to do with Montreal. They drafted a player recently in the first round who was tried and convicted for a crime of a sexual nature. Basically the teen took pictures of a girl sucking his dong and posted them on a team chat, and was charged under local laws for doing it. He was charged and convicted in Sweden, asked not to be drafted this year while he worked on himself, and then Montreal took him in the draft anyways. What made Montreal drafting him extra scummy is that, from appearances, it looks like Bergevin made the pick without consulting the ownership group. Bergevin was also the Blackhawks' director of pro personnel at the time when an unidentified former Blackhawks player has alleged, in a lawsuit against the team, that then-assistant coach Bradley Aldrich sexually assaulted him in 2010 during a playoff run to a Stanley Cup title and that the team did nothing after he informed a now-retired employee.

So, no, it's not a stretch to suggest that Montreal is okay with players and personnel who commit sexual assault.

Same with Carolina signing a player whose a nut. He doesn't trigger me but, yeah, I'd be pissed with the team if TO had of taken a look at him. I'm willing to bet that guy doesn't last a season in the NHL without some other major incident occurring. As a professional I have no time for people who get a half dozen second chances and yet cannot, or will not, keep there mouth shut and act like a professional.
