How long did you have to wait for your 2021 factory order?

Question to the general public:
My '21 was scheduled to be built on 8/2 and I've read on that folk's temp vins quit working once their's was built. Is that on the Toyota vehicle information look up page that it discontinues working?

Pretty sure I saw the details on this thread but not sure how to do a proper search of just the forum. Any tips on that front?

Correct, once your vehicle starts production, temp vin will stop working... in my case it was a couple days after my build date that it stopped... you can check it on The toyota vin Look up site.

 

I figured it was the same toyots vin site I've used before. Been exceedingly patient the last three months but now it is become very difficult to "sit still"!

7/9 - Estimated Build Date in Baja California, Mexico

7/10 - Temp VIN no longer working

7/12 - Received actual VIN from dealer with estimated day of arrival of 7/20-7/26

7/18 - Lurking on forums, I read about train derailment in Utah that is carrying bunch of Tacomas. I fear my truck is on this train.

7/20 - My fear is true, sales manager calls to say the Tacoma was indeed on the train that derailed. Puts my name on a future build Tacoma. I was given a new build date of 8/12-8/13 and delivery 2-3 weeks after that.

8/2 - I got a phone call from dealer saying someone backed out of the exact same spec Tacoma, and is available.

8/3 - You're fuckin a right, I went and picked it up!

 

Man, talk about a roller coaster of emotions!! Congrats

 

Anybody know the build times for Texas plant? My build date was estimated for 7/28, temp Vin is still working. Maybe they are behind a little?

 

I’m looking to buy a TRD off-road and my dealership says they just started taking orders and deposits for 2022s this week. Is this actually legit or is it too early?

 

I was told, it can order September

 

I walked into Dolan Toyota in Reno with the intention to reserve one... they had a brand new 2021 sitting next to the front door and I drove it out of there same day!

 

Just put a deposit down on a TRD OR manual. I'll provide an update when I receive it!

Build date - 7/27
Port ETA - 8/24
Delivery ETA 8/30

 

Disregard. My temp Vin stopped working today and the dealer texted me that it would be delivered between 8/19 and 8/24.

 

@Steeler where are you? Mine was scheduled for 8/2 @ the San Antonio plant as well

 

My dealer called me July 8th and told me I could submit my order on the Toyota system for a 2022. Thats when I found out Cement and Voodoo were gone. And Blue Crush was a new colour.
I'm in Canada. Not sure what Toyota USA is doing.

I was surprised when I was given a temp VIN and it started with 5. I seriously doubt there is any difference in fit/finish whether it starts with a 5 or a 3 but it is kind of nice knowing its a 5--will be my third Tacoma from the states.

 

Yeah, I'd have ZERO issues if it came from Mexico and expected it to

 

I'm in Indiana, but the dealer is in Louisville KY.

 

I've lost count how many times I've checked to see if the temp vin is still active or not this week (was quoted 8/2 scheduled build date in late June)

 

You're getting close! Mine was about a week behind schedule.
