Good to know. I’ll skip bringing it in and just do the ECGS install myself. Doesn’t look too hard to knock out from the videos to get the ride back to normal. Thanks.

Had the dealer install the TRD lift kit yesterday. No vibrations so far and really happy with the results. Tires are 265/75r16, I believe this is the perfect lift for this size.

Man that looks good. I really liked the look before the lift too. I may go with bigger tires on mine and hope I don’t rub. Then circle back to the lift when I get bored with the look. I have -12 wheels so I just don’t know. It seems like it’s hit and miss if I will rub or not.

I just scheduled my TRD lift kit installation for next week. I don't think I can afford new tires right now though, going to have to roll around on my stock 245/75/16's until holiday season lol

All good! Put the miles on those tires before the new ones. You should still be able to sell the used ones for a bit.

    good luck!

Thanks but yea whether you will rub or not depends on your wheel offset as well. I used to have a set of wheels on my other tacoma that were 0 offset and they would rub on stock suspension when going in reverse at full lock.

Yeah I just can’t get much of an answer for -12 offset wheels. My tire guy says they will clear so I guess I will hold him to his word. Lol he is a friend and if they don’t he will take care of it.

Had popped in one of the local Toyota dealers for something; was looking at the components of the lift kit they were advertising. I noticed that the 1" rear blocks are not tapered. Interesting. I assume they are still using the stock tapered shim already installed on the truck, when they use the new 1" block?

I'm getting ready to install 2" rear tapered blocks with the TRD upgraded shocks, So I imagine I should be removing those OEM tapered shims from the bottom of the leaf pack?

    A few.
Tapered blocks usually arent needed when only 1" thick.

I called a dealership before lunch today to get a price on having this lift installed. Of course nobody answered so I left a message. Of course nobody bothered to call me back. I may try another location tomorrow but it would be nice have some idea of what it should cost.

Any thoughts on what a reasonable total cost would be? $1,400 for everything plus 4-5 hrs labor. $2,000 altogether, does that sound about right?

Straight of the Toyota website. Doesn’t include install in that price.

That seems fairly reasonable for someone like me who would be too intimidated to do something like this themselves.

Has anyone had any luck convincing the dealership to leave the fog lights installed?

Ive seen several people post the dealer had no issue leaving them in. After all , they get paid the same amount so its just less work for them to do.

My dealer had no problem letting me keep the fogs in. However my state wasn’t on the list to have them removed in the papers.

I had the kit installed on my DCLB, kept the fog lights and had the EGCS done at the same time for $1700. Dealership honored their misquoted price.

I’m in Texas, which I believe is one of the states on the “remove” list. When I had it installed I was going to ask that they leave the fog lights. I forgot to mention it and they left the fog lights in. I think it depends on the dealer.

Always wondered why the kit excludes the DCLB for compatibility in the fine print. I wouldn’t think it mattered but Im not an engineer. Interesting the dealer had no issues installing. Makes me think its something silly…
