Agreed. Additionally, the slapper arm is intriguing as it addresses one of the main drawbacks of a hydro bump on an IFS and allows the bump to be engaged in the last bit of travel where it needs to be.

They are mounted so far in on the frame they make contact with the arm early in the travel. A lot of LT kits I've seen around nearly ride on the bump at ride height.

Gotcha. Yeah, that's what I assumed. Almost better to have a bump zone in the bypass and a thin rubber actual bumper for frame-to-control arm contact?

That would be one way to go about it. Many different thoughts on the topic. Much depends on the use.

For $1600 you could be most of the way to getting a shock hoop and nice triple bypass.

You are using logic which isn't what's being targeted here. They are targeting the biggest demographic of Tacoma drivers... Mall crawlers, Broverlanders, IG users and TikTok all-stars. This is a bolt on LT arm kit that can be installed in any driveway or shop with no welding or cutting required (until you add slappers). It offers a run what you've brung approach to shocks and for the un-informed it's the least expensive way to LT the front of a Tacoma. Think about how many TRD Pro's on stock Fox shocks will have these added, cause why would you get rid of the "best shocks" that Fox makes? Part of this is being said in jest but not really. In the I want everything now mentality this is the quickest and easiest way to get a LT kit on the front of a Toyota.

And if I'm being honest, if this kit was available when I was in the market and I wasn't following the JD thread so closely, I likely would have gone for it too. A couple of extra inches of wheel travel in the front for the crawling I do? "Minimal" cost and fab to install? Sign me up.

    Assuming the slappers are optional.

I agree. They’ll sell a lot - just kind of disappointing since they’re a capable shop at making some awesome parts.

Good deal for the money :duh: lol, when was any LT kit a good deal for the $$? Honestly if it doesn't screw up the way the trucks drive without re-valving the shocks it could be a very viable option for people wanting a +2 kit. If you have to re-valve the shocks anyway why would you not jump to something else.

You're absolutely going to have to revalve. You'd be significantly changing the motion ratio on the existing setup and would have to make changes accordingly. Not sure to what extent though. Only time will tell.

I’m surprised they don’t make an XLT kit to compete with others in that segment like solo, lsk, dirt designs etc. They seem like they would have the most means given their racing experience. But at the end of the day, the products they make are for profit to support their business, so that’s that.

Side note: If I were building a full-on prerunner, that LSK kit looks really nice. Fully fabbed spindle and uses a 10” coilover if I’m not mistaken.

iirc stock length mid travel can pull like 11 without the factory bumps on so in that case it should be possible with the remade bump setup *edit - speculating off fuzzy memory here, dunno for sure
Although i agree no way it's gonna be easy on stock cvs if it doesn't cause some bind to begin with

Maybe it will pull 13” with 2wd. But that’s a rather sly gimmick to market it to overlanders saying it will pull 13” of travel, but only without CVs. :notsure:

Any tips for installing glass fenders? Got mine in today and will be tackling that soon. From what I understand I just remove the fender, place fiberglass on, drill holes and bolt on. Seems easy enough but I’ve also heard horror stories of how much of a pain in the ass it is.

Everyone assuming the kit used a stock length CO just didn’t add up so…

    I just called Camburg :

    1. It does not use an OE length CO it uses a Fox CO spec’d for the +2 kit not an OE length CO

    2. The kit is $4095 base price with a bushing upper control arm, $4895 with the heim’d billet upper. The slapper bump is not included it is an extra $1675

If that is the case then their IG videos were misleading. In both, he states “with the coilovers you already own”.

maybe call them and see what they tell you, i specifically asked if “ my existing oe length coilovers could be used or if i had to buy the proper spec’d fox co for the +2 kit …how else could you possibly get 13” of travel ?
