I agree with you. I am just saying that it not built like the OR suspension etc but that does not mean you can't take it off road.

That's exactly what I use my 2020 Stock Tacoma Sport Long Bed for. It definitely serves my needs.

The thread that keeps on giving….
Buy whatever truck you want and don’t mind the peanut gallery here. No one should care what the self professed off road know it all’s have to say anyway. So many idiots here bashing people for buying what they want instead of buying an off road. No one cares what u think.

I would think buying a Yugo would make you a moron....

When I just bought my sport, it was about 2k cheaper (roughly) than the OR with the same features. As this is my DD, and I dont currently plan to do any serious offroading that it couldnt handle anyway, I went cheaper. I will upgrade tires likely by next spring, and suspension by next fall-but thats about it. I drove Jeeps for years without a locking diff, and never needed it. Granted, this is New England, and the areas we can ride offroad are pretty tame-but, again, why pay for something I will likely never use? I NEED 4WD for getting to work regardless of the weather. I dont NEED a locking rear diff, to crawl over stuff.
Besides, chicks think the hood scoop is hot (do people still say that???). So, Sport for the win!!!

I found this interesting given my 2017 a Sport Model. I have to give this guy kudos for his demonstration, crude but effective.
Why Sport for me? Because access cab with manual transmission in OR trim wasn't rolling off the delivery truck when my wife was at the dealership.

And ultimately I decided on something different to beat around in. Something with front and rear locking differentials, something that required minimal lift to run 35" tires. Less than 2k for lift and tires.

Take a Sport and an O.R. with the same tires.... O.R. will get about 2 feet farther in the mud pit...I will then come pull you both out with my Locked FJ40...
Seriously, what difference does it make. Both are good trucks. Run emm.. and enjoy them...

P.S. I have the 2021 O.R. as I did in my 04 because of the rear locker. Only needed it a few times, but when I did, I was glad I had it. Both times it a badly muddy field retrieving a deer..I know for a fact, none of my previous, unlocked Tacomas/ Toyota P/U would have made it nor any of my unlocked FJ40's. Any of the rear locked Tacoma's or 40's would have no problems. (Fully locked 40 is is a different bracket) Point being; know your limitations with what you are driving.

They don't even sell an OR AC with MT here, so the Sport was your only choice

My wife was at the dealer with her Tacoma a 2013, for the HVAC blower switch. I ask her if the have a 4x4 AC with MT in super white and she sent me pictures of it. I'll have to ask if she still has them on her phone.
I had heard that combo wasn't a option but never knew if it true or not.

I had 1st and 2nd Gen's OR AC MT's but for some reason on the 3rd Gen it's only the Sport in that combo, however you could also get an SR AC 4 Cylinder 5 Speed for 2016 and 2017 before they cancelled it.

I think within the first year of owning my 2017, I was at another dealer getting routine maintenance parts and they had a TRD PRO DC MT, I was eyeballing it and they insisted on giving me a trade/buy price but I had too much in extras with shell and OEM audio to be worthwhile. I'm glad I stayed with the Sport. It will be plenty capable for my purposes, I also bought 16" TRD wheels so with some better tires and remove that lower valence should be plenty.
The wife lost everything on her old phone. I think it was still on the transport truck, then fresh off. Built in 6 of 2017 sold in mid July.
