How does your Tacoma handle when towing that?
(And I presume you have the full towing package?).
Do you monitor transmission temperature?

I almost bought a Jayco Swift not long ago.
About the same size as yours or maybe slightly smaller.

Ah, I see on your page that you have a transmission cooler.
Would that be necessary, strictly speaking, if I towed in 4 instead of Drive?
Assuming I bought a camper of about that size?

My Tacoma did not have a tow package when I bought it new . I added obviously the hitch ,transmission cooler and bigger battery. I also have close to a 3” lift with Bilstein 6112s up front and 5125s in the rear with HD Dakar’s . Timbren SES bump stops in the rear . WD hitch with sway bar . This new camper only weighs 2760 dry . My camper I traded in which was a lot smaller weighed in at 2848 dry. I only tow in 4 . I have an Ultra Gauge. Truck does well when towing except for the gas mileage. 8-10 mpg . I also have 33” tires . Higher numbers are going up a mountain for a few miles and the lower number is right about the normal range . Engine temp can go any where from 185 to high of 199 . My transmission temp goes as high as 222 - 230 but drops immediately after pulling up a hill.

I would definitely add a transmission cooler if you do not have one . I’ve been thinking about adding the engine oil cooler also but have been told it’s really not necessary and right now I only monitor the TC trans temp the pan temp is always a bit cooler than the torque converter.

Because I barely have any mechanical abilities I am headed out shortly to have my front brake pads replaced this morning. This will only be the second set after the OEM pads . 135000 miles . Power stop rotors already on there .
