From research I'd done like 12 years ago (Internet and sales-droids), so questionable now at best, all GST Toyota's come into Georgia (I think it was) where all that crappola and state edition'd versions get "created", then shipped to the dealers.

...and while I typed the above, did a few quick searches and appears you are correct sir GST brings all the Toyotas for the 5 GST states thru Houston, then out to the dealers. I bow to your greatness sir!

No greatness - I used to live down the road from the San Antonio plant and know that the train tracks run straight to Houston from there.

it was frustrating AF when I got my truck because they shipped it to Houston (where nothing was to be added at the port) before hauling it back to Austin.

    :annoyed:

You were probably thinking of Southeast Toyota, which is the distributor for Florida, Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina and South Carolina. They and GST are the last of the original Toyota distributors left in the US. The rest have been bought out by Toyota USA.

I worked for them for 16 years, your research about GA is incorrect. The SE region has their own distributor, SET or Southeast Toyota. They cover, AL, FL, GA, SC and I think NC. GST and SET are the only privately own Toyota distributors left in the US.

If GST or SET didn’t add the packages, the dealers would like they do in regions that are supported directly through Toyota. The packages are created through extensive market research.

They truck them from SA to the Houston VPC. It’s way faster than running them on rail. Every vehicle sold in the GST region goes through the Houston VPC before hitting the dealer.

Couple of decent looking work trucks I spotted on the way from The Woodlands to Hockley yesterday. The 2nd Gen was on I45, the 1st get was on 290.
