the Receiver is the "Gun" dy definition... if you put a stock on a pistol AR15 then you have made a SBR illegally if you do not possess a tax stamp....

Oh, ok. So the OP already has a .223 pistol and want's to put a stock on it? yeah, that's very illegal. Sorry, I wasn't understanding.

thanks for all the assumptions

when building an SBR its actually the lower that you have to register since its the one with the serial number...
I can buy short barrel uppers all day long online...I just have to have a tax stamp and signatures for a lower to mate it onto.

yea, I found a thread over on AR15.com and figured it out

    http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=122&t=458387

i figure this would go along the same lines as adding a stock...

you also have to have a tax stamp if you possess that stock and an ar15 or else you will have "constructive possession" same goes with a short barrel with a ar15 rifle

Did somebody say "AR Pistol"? Here are mine. The top one is an Anvil Arms lower and a DPMS "Kitty Kat" upper. The bottom one is all Rock River. They are a hoot to shoot, and would work well for repelling boarders.

The KX3 isn't exactly an effective flash hider (it actually might make things worse) and it's not a can either. What this thing actually does is redirect the sound downrange and away from the shooter. More importantly it adds backpressure to aid with the gas operation of the weapon. It's probably not as effective on a full size 16 inch cabrine but on something 10.5 or smaller it can really help add some of the back pressure that was taken away with those extra inches of barrel.

So, while being heavy and making flash somewhat worse for the shooter, the heavy and expensive KX3 can help with sound direction and weapon reliabilty with shorter barrel lengths.

A bit of a thread bump, just so I can post a pic of my SBR!

PWS's CQB comp/flash hider is along the same lines as the Noveske. I haven't had a chance to shoot this bad boy yet, as I just got it in firing condition on Saturday. Should have a chance for some trigger time on Thursday. And my Aimpoint Comp ML2 should be here by then too....
