I have Tundra brakes as well, NAPA calipers with Wheelers extended brake lines, no issues what so ever.

the issue I had is that my caliper bolts were too long when installing the Tundra calipers so I just trimmed them down some. Easy fix.

Same here. Wheeler's lines with Napa calipers. Did the upgrade back in 2015, no issues.

Cool, thanks all, I'm glad I asked for multiple opinions here. I typically prefer OEM parts to aftermarket so I'll stick w/OEM parts for now. And given how old these trucks are getting, I don't really want a reman'd unit that might've come from a truck with 600,000 miles so I'm just going to bite the bullet and buy a new one and swap it in. I'll keep my old one to reboot with the OEM kit and to try out the boot-slide-mod as a (trail) spare.

A new CV https://parts.salinastoyota.com/pro...&stockNumber=4343004020&ukey_product=63020921 should come packed w/grease and ready to go?

What I recall is that the Wheelers replacement brake lines for a banjo bolt setup require a machined surface on the caliper for the ring fitting to rest on to seat correctly. The problem is the not all reman'd 13WL calipers come with a machined surface for the banjo bolt. It's worth noting that The 13WL is designed for a hard line setup.

FWIW, the reman'd NAPA calipers used to work with with the banjo setup, in fact the ones I got a few years ago did just fine with them. But I think Dan @turbodb found that NAPA had changed theirs and the currently available calipers will not work with the banjo bolt setup.

Wow, those are pricey. You can do this for about $100 with a reboot kit and a used axle.

You can buy reman OEM axles through Toyota, or at least you used to be able to...I read somewhere that Toyota stopped doing remans. I was able to find one at a local dealership last year.

^that may be the part # for the manual hub ones. I just called and asked if they had any ADD ones

    Worth a shot anyhow

Also, unless it is a trick of the camera flash, are you certain this axle OEM? The green shaft sticker suggest it is, but I've never seen 'cement' colored grease in an OEM axle. An aftermarket axle isn't worth rebooting.

Maybe it's been rebooted already at a shop that used grey grease.

Yeah, I came across this one too. Not a bad deal actually.

Yeah that's them, on Toyotapartsdeal they list it as unavailable though, was like that over a year ago when I looked on there too which is why I suspect that Toyota no longer does remans. But there could still be plenty in stock at dealerships though, one near me had an ADD one that I picked up. Have had it installed for over a year with no issues.

Found a reman from mcgeorge toyota for $117 + $75 core charge https://toyotaparts.mcgeorgetoyota.com/oem-parts/toyota-remanufactured-cv-axle-434300402084 vs new for $402 (no core charge).

That is a pretty significant difference so I guess I'll take a chance on a reman'd unit. Thanks for your your input.

I'm not positive but I doubt they're AM. I bought the truck a year ago, stock, with ~120k miles on it and no maintenance records indicating the CVs were ever touched. You don't think this 'cement' color is just a transition from the original yellow/brown color to black?

That's a great deal for the reman one, I think I paid about $20 more for mine when I got it. Well...more than that actually because I never sent back a core, lol.

Yeah, I don't plan to either so I factored that into the price. Cool, I'll pull the trigger then. Your reman came greased and ready to roll or did you need anything else?

I have only ever seen black grease come out of them. The OEM kit comes with two different colored grease packets. One is black and one is a lighter brown color when new.

That is a solid price even with the core charge for OEM. I might pick 2 up since I'm pretty sure my current ones are the OG ones that rolled off the assembly line in 02. Now that this truck actually uses its 4wd instead of being a runner I know their clock is ticking

Changed out my AC compressor clutch pulley, with the compressor still mounted… I read all the posts on how much of a bitch it was, but my god that Wave/retainer clip was a fuckin nightmare. Fought for 2 hours with a dozen different pliers etc haha. Finally settled on small tweeker to bend the fuck out of it and pulled it out with pliers. Luckily I had a replacement.

Then. To get the actual pulley off. That was another good fight.. luckily I just needed to swap that out cause of the work bearing. Started up and no more mystery noise, and it seems to idle much much nicer. What a productive day..
