Has anyone ever been told that our driveshafts are not serviceable?

I called the local driveshaft shop to service and rewall the one I purchased "locally" and they just called to inform me that they are not serviceable.

    Wth?

    I knew it.

Well, I told them what I want done and she just said "the driveshaft you have is not serviceable and a new one would have to be built from scratch."

    Called 3 more places:

First place is a semi only shop and recommended the other place I got off the phone with that said the driveshafts are not serviceable. He seemed nice and was blown away that they told me that. Seems that place wants my money.

Second place I called gave me a quote over the phone but needs to see the driveshaft in person for the rewall/retube.

Third and final place didn't seem to know what I meant when I said a refresh/service of a driveshaft. Their own website says they offer that as a service and I told him that and then suddenly, he remembered. I left my phone number and name and he's going to call me back.

    This world we live in.....

    UPDATE:

Third shop from above called back and said the driveshafts on the tacomas are "not serviceable". Again, I don't even know what that means.

They recommended the second shop above, Driveshafts unlimited that @Snowy recommended.

Called a 5th place that said the driveshaft has Spicer components but needs to check with his machine/shop guy so he will call me back.

This 5th place is open on the weekend (Saturday) so I'm really hoping they can do everything I need to. Driveshaft unlimited opens at 7am on weekdays and isn't open on weekends so I would have to meet them there when they open and haul ass back home, go on my lunch break and haul ass, or wait for another day I get off early for summer hours but those end labor day weekend.

I don't get it. You cut off the yokes, and weld in a new tube. Then change the ujoints.

Maybe you are wording it wrong? Ask if they can retube it, and then you replace the ujoints yourself. I can show you how or YouTube can. Rent a BJ press tool from the parts store, or might be able to do it with a vise if it can open wide enough

Maybe I am not but I ask for a retube, fresh ujoints and a new carrier bearing (refresh).

Besides that, not sure what else to ask for.

Ah ok. Id think they are getting hung up on the carrier bearing? I don't know though. I thought those were not "serviceable". But there is a writeup on how to get it done.

Remember our transmission isn't serviceable, but people still change the fluid and filter

I'm curious to see what this 5th shop says.

I'll ask about the unserviceability and tell them I have an audience that's curious also (not really going to say that).

I know everything is replaceable like the ujoints and carrier bearing with new parts. I think they must think I'm talking about remachining old parts and putting them back in instead of just buying new and swapping them out?

    Genuinely curious...I don't know.

Maybe say that. You want to replace ujoints and carrier bearing. Ive done the bearing before. Its fairly easy. If you can replace serpentine belt, you can do carrier bearing

Only thing needed is a large 3 jaw puller. I have one that you can borrow if you'd like. Then just ship it back to me when you're done?

    I appreciate it man.

I'm going to wait for that shop to get back to me with a quote and see what they say first and reassess. Hoping to hear back soon before you head out.
