Took my truck in for the 5k service. Couple days later I noticed one of my wheel caps is missing. Thought maybe I hit a bump and it blew off or something. Checked the others and 3/4 were not even snapped in all of the way. Annoying. Now I understand all of the rants on here about doing your own maintenance!

Dealers say this is normal

Sorry to see that though. Some dealers are better than others though

You really have to do a walk around of your vehicle before you drive off. I got an oil change and my hood bug deflector was obviously broken and half of it missing. Thankfully they replaced it after I told them...

Oh man, I hope not! Gonna call tomorrow and talk to them about it. Found the issue after hours. Luckily if push comes to shove, the OEM replacement is only $18 shipped.

The dealer that serviced my truck lost the mesh screw cover on the interior door handle and they also lost my oil cap (I drove 1k miles with no oil cap). Needless to say I was irate and got them to change the oil, they did not want to replace the missing oil cap. Lesson learned, always double and triple check your car.

Yes, normal characteristic of the truck. Don’t believe me, ask a Toyota rep.

Insist they make it right. If you end up forking over $18, you’re not the one doing the pushing or shoving.

My 5k service was a 3 hr tire rotation. Imagine how long an oil change would take to finish. Haven’t been back since.

I use the same wheels for winter and this happened to me the last time I had to go to the dealer. None where put on correctly, and the one that fell off I was able to find just down the street from the dealer on the side of the road. Good to see the dude working on my truck was thoughtful. These caps are almost $40 Canadian. They stay on tight when I put them on correctly.

Remember, the least qualified, least knowledgeable , and inexperienced people at the dealership are doing the tire rotations and oil changes on your new truck.
That is unless they are using your truck to let the new guy demo his first oil change.

Most times a more experienced tech will come by and check they dont mix up the trans plug with the oil plug.
Or over torque your skid plate bolts…

Where do you think they learn…?

If they rotated the tires, I'ld retorque the lugs. Anybody who is that careless has little trust in my book.

Unfortunately its a fact. Always comes down to the tech/techs servicing your vehicle.

i put a dot of paint on two of my 4 tires. and check to make sure the dots have moved after a tire rotation. It's caught them a few times.

    My dealer is awesome.
It's a small town dealer though.
I currently lease and plan to buy my current 2019 Tacoma.
    The wife drives the 2019.
They ordered a 2021 for me without even a down payment.
    It gets built this week.

So Far I have had two dealer services and not had an issue with Hanover Toyota that did my 5k service and took under an hour. Nor did I have any issue with Bill Kidd's Toyota with the 10k service, they took a bit over an hour. All dealers are not the same. I do stay away from the local dealer because I hear things not so good about them.

That’s a good idea. I wouldn’t be able to trust that dealer anymore.

I never thought of that but I have put dates on filters in the past for my reminder of how long its been there and so I know If a dealer or servicer tries to say it needs replaced I know better.

My cousin was having trouble with the subaru stealership showing her a clogged cabin air filter every time and conning her in to a new one for $50. I told her how to take it out and change it and to write the date on it. the next time they tried that she asked them how that could be her dirty filter since the date she wrote in black sharpie wasn't anywhere on there. They never tried that scam again after.
