He's got some pretty beefy 33" tires, so mpg may not bump up that much. But, anything would be better than 15/16 mpg

Just purchased, downloaded and flashed your tune for my '18 auto. Now I have a BSM/LDW failure. Did I miss a step in the flashing process? I've flashed dozens of tunes since well before VFTune came out, and even edited some tunes in VFT. However, this is my first with the most recent version(s) that requires you to "prepare" the ECU before flashing.

I've done a brief search on this thread and the VFT support forums, but see nothing mentioned of it by anyone else.

Disregard. Walked away for 10 minutes and tried again and all works as normal now.

Okay I was going to say that typically comes up because Mat pulled the stock files from a truck without them. But he built OV2.0 from a pull with the features.

That’s kinda how you can tell if a tune is a modified OVT file or legitimately built from scratch

I also have a 2018 and have had problems flashing tunes before. My solution has always been to just flash again. Not sure what the deal is but at least it worked out for both of us in the end!

"Super happy with it. It is a pleasure to drive now. Throttle response is awesome! Lower rpm torque is outstanding. Shift business is gone. My down shift clunk is gone as well."

@Grossomotto my throttle response is night and day compared to the OV Tune. Very happy with it. And I'm seeing 2 - 3 mpg improvement even with the 33's. I'm thrilled!

I'm a hesitant to write a full review as of yet since I've only had about 48 hours and 50-60 miles on the truck but man what a difference in shifting, and drivability in my '21 taco.

On another note anyone looking for this tune in the Houston area send me a pm.

    *** Updates ***

It’s been a while since we had one of these. So there is a decent amount to cover. I’ll keep it to a short read however.

    1) 04C21 Testing is complete and those who have 04C20 files can expect their download permissions on the website to be updated before Sunday. Testing hit a small hiccup as we noticed small discrepancies between shift points and transmission output shaft settings. Things are FINALLY finished.

    2) Some if you may have noticed the website being temporarily unavailable over the last few days. We have switched to a new host which better suits our needs. Running a MASSIVE website with over 5GB of product files and more to come really takes a toll and gets expensive. It was a fine line but we managed to hit a sweet spot with this new company.

The website should not be more responsive, faster loading, and able to handle significantly more simultaneous requests. Payment processing will also be faster for those looking towards a purchase.

If you have sent an email to me through the website in the last few days and have NOT received a response, please reach out again as out email was unavailable during this changeover period.

    3) Sport is a work in progress tune. It has been two steps forward three back lately however we are very close to releasing it. Keep checking back here for any info regarding it and the updates page of the website for this.

    4) In house testing and development is happening for physical ECU availability. We are needing to create a method to completely pair an ECU with the other computers and monitors on the vehicle. This will prevent any issues down the line with warranty or systems not syncing for customers who obtain pre-tuned ECUs.

    5) Our installer locations have been updated. We have expanded to many more states and cities with most installers servicing multiple regions.

As always our installers are independent from Valley Tuning, their pricing and offerings vary. They tend to offer the best or most competitive rates per a request we’ve made, however in some regions this is not possible simply due to the installer’s overhead costs.

    —————

Thank you all for the continued support. Please feel free to ask any questions and we will respond as soon as we can.

    *** Release Info ***

Valley Runner v2.1 has been completely developed and will be gradually updated across the website throughout the next week. The first files/customers have already been updated and should refer to their user account's downloads section to obtain the newest files for their vehicle!

To see which model years have received the updates, please refer to the 'Updates' section of ValleyTune.com and reference the post made today (8/2/2021)

    ------

All VR Professional Installers have been updated with the newest files as well, those who own this package please go download the files so that your clients are installed with the most updated version.

    ------

    *** Information ***

Valley Sport's backwards steps have finally been worked out. We are now finalizing the files and completing the last in-house checks before releasing it to our testers.

4Runner development is also nearing the final stages of in-house testing. Test vehicles will begin running the file soon thereafter, more info on this to come.

Custom ECU Handshake adapters are being developed to support the install of Pre-Tuned ECUs. Customers who are in areas that are not served by installers or who prefer a more mechanical approach to tuning their vehicles will soon have the option to obtain an ECU pre-loaded with their tune file of choice and programmed to their VIN number. Instructions will guide you through the entire process step by step ensuring the install of your tuned ECU goes smoothly. Overall, you should expect to allocate between 1 - 1.5hrs for the process. **NOTE: This option will involve a core charge for the return of your original ECU in order to keep costs reasonable**

    ------

Thanks to everyone who has been patient with the development process and headaches that it brings! Looking forward to keeping your trucks updated with new tunes and experiences.

How does this Valley Runner Tune compare to the OVTune?

And another satisfied customer with some recomendations, I tuned the Standard throttle which is a bit more aggresive, he'll get used to it

"Just a little update. I'm thinking the 0 to 5% throttle response maybe a little too quick for rolling in stop-and-go traffic but we'll see how my foot learns to adapt. I would call it a little touchy...you can kind of get a driver induced oscillation going on. Almost like a "bucking".

Also the wide open throttle 1 2 and 2/3 upshift happen at approximately 500 RPM higher than stock. (Well into the redline) this is exactly what I was looking for!

I really look forward to driving the truck every day now. It's quite sporty for a truck."

Compared to OVTune its drastically different, more power, more torque, improved fuel economy, better throttle response, pedal feel is extremely similar to a classic cable-throttle. The one thing it isn't is a dedicated sport tune (that's Valley Sport which is finalizing in development now). Overall, it is a highly refined daily driver tune. Most people use their truck as their daily, therefore having it tuned as such would only serve to benefit every aspect of the ownership.

Glad to hear someone else enjoys the install! Typically coming from stock the standard pedal is touchy, eventually it just becomes normal. I've been running the standard pedal for months and to me it feels just how the truck drives.

Soooo, I ordered the tune for 35s with 5.29 gears and Jeff was nice enough to include the file for 35s with stock gears also. I was hoping to get the 35s installed before next week knowing I would still be on stock gears but I've been too busy to install the 35s. I will likely stay with my 265/75 16s for a trip starting Sun because I won't have time for trimming and install, etc.

If I were to run the 35s/stock gear tune how would my truck react? I'm new to this tuning stuff but understand that it will mostly affect the shift points, correct? Any advice on this would be appreciated.

Email me through the website with your order ID again and I'll just add the appropriate tire size for you.

It will only mess with shift points but if you're going on a longer trip those shifts will be what makes or breaks the fuel economy. I'd rather you have the best experience with the tune.

When you log in and navigate to the dashboard, there is a downloads section. Under there the updated files will appear for download once linked.

After we re-link the files in our content delivery network, the store needs to be purged of all old cache through the server and each user needs their download permissions reset.

This is why I will be posting on here once additional model years receive the update as well as through the website's updates page. Once you see that the update for your year has occurred, head over to your downloads section and grab the files.
