I'll be doing this soon as well. Did you take the radiator out? I heard it was easier with that out which is why I haven't attempted it yet, doing the timing belt and water pump as well

I left the radiator in. Pulled off the lower shroud. Moved the power steering lines a bit out of the way. It was do-able. Not much room at all though. I’d just wait till you do the work/TB and you’ll have more room for sure.

Having done it both ways I think unbolting it is easier, at least on a 3rz.

I don’t doubt it. I literally just flushed my rad last week. So I didn’t feel like draining it again..

Yup that's next week, one reason why I am doing the timing belt earlier is I want AC back haha

Coworker and I took our trucks to the local feed store to have them weighed. For comparison. He has a bone stock 2001 double cab.

    Ya, she's a bit heavy.

What parts did you end up needing to do this job?
I've been trying to pin down this bearing squeak noise and think it's the AC compressor bearing, so would be great to do this at the same time I change out my radiator.

I just replaced my A/C pulley and clutch this past weekend:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/winkle99-build-thread.511998/page-5#post-26049568

I also fought that wave clip and the snap ring. I tried two different snap ring pliers. A cheapo from Harbor Freight that did not spread the clip far enough apart and one that worked from O’Reilly auto parts.
I did remove the radiator to get clearance for the snap ring pliers and so I could see the snap rings easier. I agree with @Reh5108 that it is worth taking the time to remove the radiator. I did try the 90 degree fittings on the pliers when the radiator was in but I had trouble keeping the nibs seated in the snap ring holes. Then I pulled the radiator and attacked the snap ring with the straight fittings.

What is actual weigh? My buddy's 98 4R with a solid axle, leaf spring rear with FF80, 40s and beadlock, front and rear plated bumpers with full matching spare swing out, skids and slider weighs almost 5100lbs.

Made a little more progress on the new daily. Just looking for a 01-04 hood latch and front bumper and she’ll be done.

I ended up ordering just the clutch from Rock auto. And as my clutch is fine, just the bearing was buggered, I just used the front plate and the main pulley. I tried a few people parting out 3.4’s but lowest was 100 bucks for unknown condition from these jabronis…. So I paid the 85 I think for new on rock auto.

while I was in there I changed out the idler pulley and belt as well.
