Yeah it does decent would be better if I still had 4.88s in the rear :rofl:Got 10 mpgs hauling it 5 hrs home running 65ish mph 4th gear.
Yep it's now linked in the rear with a spooled and trussed 8.8 and some other changes since that trip. I've got plans for it and it'll see even more changes.

I'll be down there. First it's a trip to URE for a shakedown run then it's off to windrock.

Getting closer, still gotta install the front axle and links, pan hard bar, full hydro steering, doubler transfer case and all the odds and ends for it all.

What gears are back there now? You’re on 35’s too, right?

I’m sketched about towing. Most I’ve towed vehicle wise was a Polaris Ranger on a single axle, no brakes on 33’s. Wasn’t very fun haha.

I've been hauling stuff around since I could reach the pedals so it isn't a biggie to me. Biggest load I hauled was my old 5th wheel car hauler with 2 E350 diesels and one chevy truck with my old F350 dually. In the taco the Jeep was the heaviest load, this was a close second but also did this with 33s. With 33s or better gears the Jeep wouldn't be a problem.

Stock gears 3.73s and yep still 35s. Gonna get a brake controller definitely. But you keep your distance let off the gas early and pulse the brakes and not ride them you'll be good. Also use the gears to help slow if need be.

It ain't no thing but a chicken wing to haul just gotta be smart and learn to drive with a trailer. Not many can say they wheel their crawler hauler like they do their crawler. There will be a drive train transplant at some point. A nice 6.0Lmax and 6l80 are looking mighty nice for low end grunt and 6 speeds of fuel mileage beauty. Especially with a Haltech and can still do DOD and get all the fuel mileages.

Nice. Stock gears and 35s would be rough unless it’s flat haha this gives me confidence though. I do have the towing package so I feel a little better if I had to haul a long distance. I’ve been back and forth on getting or building a trailer for the tractor. Steel prices have pretty much shot that idea for now though. Any idea what those rock bouncers weigh in at?

That's a loaded question depends how you set it up. An all aluminum NA LS with Ford 10.5s on 40s you're looking at right around 5000 or a little under. A big boy with 14b front and rear a supercharged big LSx you're looking at getting up around 6+. Most avg in the mid to high 5s for a "avg" build.

I bet you could get it down lower if you really worked on chassis design and just really paid attention to every detail like using carbon fiber and aluminum more for panels, extruded metal for the floors, wheel and tire selection, brakes, etc. Keep the backpackers mantra every ounce adds to a lb and you'll be good. But it isn't gonna be cheap that's for sure. You'd be looking at a 200k rig when it's all said and done.

BK and WOD start at 90k them building one.

Considering all the research and development 90k isn’t bad for what all you get with those rigs. Doubt you could piece it together any less expensive not to mention all the extra tools and time involved. That’s more than my current play budget allows though and I think I’d splurge for something more comfortable to haul it with if it was ever in the budget haha

I guess that if you go super cheap on the drive train but from what they say on the IG with their entry LS, trans, atlas, and decent axles 90k
It's really not that bad. WOD offers more "family" friendly type buggies with 4 seaters and Jeep based ones. There is also Goat built and a few others out there too. IF you buy the chassis and just build as you go you'll end up cheaper without the labor and can build as you have the $$$$. They are like a big lego set pretty much. Especially since the geometry is already set with the suspension mounts, engine & trans mounts, etc. Another option is buying someone elses that they decided to sell. Grubicon a WOD JL was selling his for like 190k IIRC now it's got a crazy LSx so it's not gonna be cheap. There are a bunch of cheap ones and older chassis rigs out there that are 20g and under on like racing junk.

No, we ran up on them testing two of them at Stoney Lonesome and they had LS and all. I ask him what he ask for them he said either one I could get for 80k. The ones with rear steer or supercharged the price went up but the ones we seen in the woods were super nice.
