Does anyone have a rotten egg smell that comes from the truck after 5 to 10 minutes of driving? Is it the catalytic converter, or is there some other problem going on? I can't see it being my clutch, cause I don't slip the clutch that much...

Are you sure it's not someone sitting in the truck with indigestion?

My experience has been that it's usually a catalytic converter.

^^^^ hes not mad the batteries do smell heres the link check your battery and change it before it explodes!!!!!!
sulfuric acid smells like rotten eggs just letting you know
    http://patriot.net/~bmcgin/batterysmelltest.html
on the other hand to be funny a rat or racoon probably climed inside your hood and died so when your truck warms up and the vents are open it sends the nice smell all over, ive heard of snakes and cats crawling into hoods after you park because its warm in there. or you could have posibly have roadkill in your undercariage too lol

My 2011 has the same smell, it's definately coming from the exaust. I was going to give it a little time to see if it goes away, if not then it's probably a defective Cat. Conv.

On a 2011 Tacoma? I highly doubt it's the cat, but it could be. At Hyundai, there's a TSB that instructs us to inform customers that the change over in gas during cold weather months can cause the smell. Also, How old is the truck? Could it be the coating burning off the exhaust you're smelling? Could just be sulfur in the gas you're burning.

rotten egg smell is the battery. it will blow up you don't address it.
if it was the exhaust while driving you wouldn't smell it. the guy behind you would. if you smell it while driving its coming from under the hood. exhaust normally smells like ammonia if you smell it directly.
a new exhaust thats hot smells like burning oil/ grease.

The truck is four months old. The smell seemsto be coming from the back half of the truck, so I'm guessing that it's not the battery.

I have a 2006 Tacoma that has a rotten egg smell from the exhaust NOT THE BATTERY since i purchased it. It's been to the dealer a few times. Both Cats have been changed and it still stinks. I've been told that they can't find the problem, because the computor isn't giving out codes. I notice that the exhaust tip is very black and that it has a very slow crank at starting the engine.
    Anyone else have this problem?

GM products in the 80s and 90s made that smell really bad.It would make you sick just to follow a chevy. It was the design of the catalytic converter but nothing wrong.Odor seemed to change depending on where you got gas. Opps, I mean Government Motors products.

My 2010 does it a lot in the summertime when the ac is on. Havent figured out exactly why it does sometimes and other times it doesnt tho. Its really annoying at a light with the windows down smelling sulfer. Has happened before and after SC install. Done it from day one when I bought the truck brand new.
