I thought that was just the South African version, did that character appear on the US show too? I'll have to look for the episode when I get home later.

I have a weird fascination with Sesame Street history ever since its been on our TV constantly the last 18 months.

Whats interesting is that even with the "full library" on HBO, many seasons from 1 - 40 or so, only have 1 - 3 episodes available. I looked into it and it's a combo of footage getting lost over the years and licensing issues with the older content I guess. Also a few episodes over the years have been tucked away for good due to outdated points of view and what not.

not to mention, Big Bird was fucking terrifying in the early seasons. Like he was critically injured during hunting season

No it wasn't ever in the US... not that I can remember anyway. It's a shame they've tucked away some of those episodes just cause the viewpoints have changed, they should release em like WB did for the very racists early stuff with a massive disclaimer lol

Different Strokes had an episode about that. Pervert bike shop owner wanted to take pictures of little kids without clothes.

Guy I occasionally worked with remotely passed away on Tuesday. He worked out of a larger office in the Dallas area. I had assumed he was maybe mid 40s and unhealthy. Nope. 33 year old weight lifter going off his twitter profile. No clue what happened.

Hopefully I enjoy my next job a bit more. Just a reminder to myself that you can drop dead one day and you’ve been spending 45+ hours a week working for the weekend.

Wow that sucks. Even if it's not a close friend/family it's always jarring to hear of someone you know passing away unexpectedly.

The last part of your post is so true. People especially in America like to glamorize the notion of working 45+ hours a week and never taking any time off like it's a badge of honor. It's really pretty sad when you think about it. There's so much more to this relatively short and only life we get.

Not to demean those who work like that because they have to in order to make ends meet/support family, that's another topic entirely.

I like being busy too, like many people I have to stay busy or I start to get down on myself. But I think it's important to make time for your hobbies and the things that really make a person happy, family, friends, projects, whatever. The stuff outside of work that fulfills you

Of course its easier said than done when you have to work in order to support your hobbies and interests and I totally get that. The work/life balance thing is what seems to be off for a lot of people. I include myself in that too, I hate the idea of simply 'working for the weekend' but that is essentially what I do.

I'm pretty adamant though about not putting more hours in than necessary during the week so that I have some family time at the end of every day. OT once in awhile is OK by me but it's more important that I don't completely ghost my wife and daughter 5 days out of every week. I won't ever be that guy if I can help it.
