Heya folks. Moved to a new logging site this week. I can get one bar on my phone at this one. Other site was about 8 miles west of the Jack Creek fire. I saw it on Monday when another watchman called me on the CB freaking out. It was about 30 minutes after it was officially reported when I got up to the top landing and saw it. Now, I'm further away but can still see the smoke plume. S
I'm parked up on burnt up BLM land on a pretty nice spot with plenty of flat areas, good tracks (graveled road and fire breaks) to walk. Only thing I am not fond of is the 1/4 tank of gas it took me to travel 12 miles in 4wd to my spot from the pavement towing the trailer. I'd say 95% uphill with a few level and downhill spots crossing from ridge to ridge.
I'll try to remember to post some pictures when I go to town on Tuesday for food/gas/water.
It isn't the best job ever. But it is a place to park and glamp with nice views, and I get about $800/mo after taxes/food/gas/air filters for the truck.

Anyone have experience with plating a dirt bike? Looking to pickup a crf450x, been finding better/newer bikes but aren’t played. Debating to just buy it and put a Baja designs kit on it.

Just don’t know how easy it is to get it plated.

I did it when I bought the bike and the dealer just added it in to the price.

You have to have headlight, taillight, mirrors, turn signals and a horn as well as well as DOT tires.

You might want to check on the requirements because I think you have to have a dealer do some of the paperwork and it can't be done on your own.

I don't take mine on the road, mainly just use the plate to ride on the Forest Service Roads.

Yeah I believe you just need to get it signed off and pay a fee to the dealer/repair place.

For those of you with sliders…. What do you have? Do you like them?? Would you look for something else? Do you have kick out/step top plates/angle??

In the market for some and wanted to start here with some actual usage comments. Thanks in advance…

Anyone in the tacoma area need brass? Free. Assorted 3030, 223, 40 and 9.

Stupid offerup/craigslist safety regs taking down my posts.

Mobtown, zero degree, with top plates, and kickouts. They are perfect. No drill, fully wrap the frame at one point, and rock solid. They stick out far from the truck. I like that. They make a perfect step for my dogs and 4'10" gf to get in and out.

The top plates are full length and I don't have to worry about my dogs getting a paw stuck in them and breaking a leg. Found them used, but couldn't have picked a more perfect set if I tried.

I have BAMF, 20deg with a kickout. They are super heavy duty. They usually have a good black Friday sale but lead time is long. I found shipping was alot cheaper from the bay area(BAMF) than the eastcoast(mobtown).

I have 4xinnovations weld on sliders and I like them. I would definitely look for bolt on instead of weld on if there is a next time but in 2010 there wasn't much, if any, options for bolt on rock sliders when I got mine. I have kick out with no top plate (wasn't even a thing 10 years ago I don't think) and not sure of the angle since I had to get it all welded together. It was pretty much a "mock up the angle and open the door to make sure it doesn't hit" test before tack welding it in place.

Can anyone recommend a quality paintless dent repair shop in the portland metro area? my dumbass hit the c piller with a cooler while putting in the backseat.. I joked about it leaving a dent... until it actually did..

I reached out to a couple of shops, both said they will need to drill a hole in order to get their tool in there. Not too worried about that since they already do this on the truck in other areas. I just want to make sure it gets done the correct way. One shop quoted me $175, and another $235

I've used JR at Carmedic in Beaverton... His prices are reasonable and he's done good work for me in the past.

Fun lunch on the Beaverton/Hillsdale highway today.... Cut off a guy leaving Fred Meyers and tried to apologize (there was no blinker from him so I didn't know he was turning right) and he proceeded to throw a bottle of water at me then get out and spit on my hood... Sorry my mask was in the way :-(

Trashy people picking fights in traffic seems like a cool new trend. Some jerk walked up and sucker punched me at a red light in Milwaukie about a month ago.

There are stupid drivers everywhere. I'm not perfect myself. One time someone cut me off and then acknowledged that they messed up and apologized with a wave and mouthed "sorry" to me. I gave them the knod, a peace sign, and move on with my day.

Fuck that guy in your video.

well I assumed it paid off right? I got my first dent recently but it's not even that cool at all. It just mixes in with the scratches.
