Are flowmaster exhaust systems good? Thinking about getting the Flowmaster FLOWFX cat-back exhaust system and was wondering if anyone had any opinions good or bad?

I've never liked Flowmaster in general, on any vehicle, because of how convoluted their muffler design seems to be WRT fluid flow.

That being said, you probably won't see any difference in performance, good or bad, with any specific exhaust brand for our trucks. It's really about sound and price.

I haven't heard my Flowmasters on our trucks in person, but they sound alright in various online videos (but take that with a huge grain of salt).

For the money, stay stock or get the TRD exhaust. Nothing aftermarket is going to last as long, especially if they weld the new one together.

My factory exhaust lasted over 10 years before I needed replacing.

I just replaced my stock with a trd and got a great price and free shipping from the dealership. $385 for muffler and got new gasket. And had it the next day

I love the Flowmaster 40 on my Tacoma. At ~$45 the thing can be replaced every few years - not that it's needed to be replaced every few years - and still be financially way ahead of the ridiculously over priced TRD.

What engine? I had an exhaust installed practically free (they kept my old cats) on my 4banger and went with a big Magnaflo with a whickedflo resonator. Being a guy who knows about the stigma of "fart can cars" I was a little concerned but I love it. Happy to report no fartness and plenty quiet when pulling into my driveway.

What are your expectations from an aftermarket cat back?

Is yours rotten and in need of replacement?
