I am about to add the same rubber trim to my cut fender flares. Any tips, problems to avoid in hindsight?

    thanks!

This rubber trim from McMastercarr / you will need 25ft of each.
    Fender flare : 8507K65
    Fender : 8507K14
Trimming 2.5 inches seemed to be the sweet spot for retaining bolt holes. I’ll show you some pictures of what I mean when I snap pictures later. I would look at ripcords build thread, he has a lot of detailed pics and advice. Only difference I did was use a different rubber trim for the fender flares, I tried the one he recommended and it wasn’t a good fit. And he trimmed 3 inches, but like I said earlier I did 2.5 to retain some factory bolt options. Other than get a dremel and a jig saw with a metal cutting blade and take your time.

If you flip through my restoration page, I show how I repaired the torn tabs on the backside of the flares. I used heat, plastic and metal screen to do the repair.

Changed the oil+filter, greased the zerks, and then hit a small "milestone" on a trip up the Kern river.

Started a bed platform build using some plywood from crates off the jobsite. 5/8” osb but seems to be fine, ran some bracing on the inside. Going to put two 2x6s where the wheel wells are for added support but seems to be stout so far surprisingly! Middle slot will have 3/4” ply. Carpeted only one side today, gonna finish up this weekend

I pulled the door panel to see if I could push them out but there's a reinforcement bar horizontally inside the door frame right in the middle of them. I'm gonna try paintless dent repair but the biggest dent might be too much for that. the rocker panel I'm not too worried about.
